Hi am new to this site.

Just starting Ibrance and Letrozole.Want to travel with family on my 'week off ' of the meds.My onc nursery said best week to travel is first week of cycle.

Do must people have low white cell count on their week off? My Travel time falls on week off of first cycle ,just before cycle 2.

Thanks for any info!

I don’t think it matters. I travel anytime during the cycle and it’s ok. I have been on that combo for almost two years. My wbc count is usually low but I always feel ok

I travel when I want. The fatigue that hits me can occur at any point in the cycle so I just adjust my activity and nap if I have to. Right now I’m traveling in Europe and doing pretty well with moderate to sometimes strenuous walking. I am not in the greatest shape to begin with which I am seeking to change. I take vitamins and meditate. You’ll soon find out if there’s rhyme or reason to your med schedule and fatigue but don’t let it hold you back. You’ll learn to pace yourself. Enjoy!

What do you do about your meds when you are traveling?

I dont have confirmation but I believe we lost this amazing lady a few years back and I do miss her. I travelled with Ibrance - I kept it in its original packaging and in my carry on. I think we travelled on my week off. The airport and airport shuttle were the most germy places - I think both times I have had COVID were from airport travel so just wear your mask and bring some wipes.

I agree with what’s already been said. I travel when I want and rest when I need to. I always carry hand sanitizer and wipes and masks. My next trip I bought an extra seat on the plane to avoid sitting by someone who may be sick (got a good rate and could afford to do it)

If you presently are suffering from neutrophinia avoid crowded places or wear a surgical mask. All depends how bad your neutrophinia is.

Hello!

I think that everyone reacts a little differently. Sometimes, I have more aches during my week off; sometimes it's during the first week. I think you will probably be fine anytime as long as you schedule some time for short naps. For me, biggest side effect is having energy zapped occasionally. Good luck! Enjoy your trip! Linda

I traveled out of the country on my first Ibrance cycle during my off week and had a great time- just paced myself. Ironically my numbers were such that my onc dropped the dosage when I came home. You should be fine . I have found that the fatigue has built up after over 2 years on the drug. Each person is different. Enjoy the life you are blessed with.

Go where you want /do what you want!! I was totally crazed starting this regime in January but no infections so far!! I gave been on three trips by plane. With that said I always wear a mask and surgical gloves on plane And after input gloves on I wipe everything down with Clorox wipes.

My counts vary every month so I am just more careful when they are low. I have been my lowest on week one so it’s dtill a crap shoot. Have fun. Experiences are what count!!

I have low counts on my week off - the lowest of the cycle but sure is nice not to have to take them while traveling.

Everyone is different. After 8 cycles I still can’t predict how I’ll be feeling any given day. The week off is a detox/recover week, so the first week is usually the better week to be busy. But is depends on so many factors. Age, general health, other meds, and family support. If your family is willing to pick up the slack, you can do anything you want.

I traveled to Italy in June. I had lymph nodes removed, so I wore my compression sleeve, and to be safe I wore a surgical mask on the plane. I wash my hands a lot, and always before I eat. I have been on Ibrance for 13 months I am always at neutropenia. Good luck! Just be smart about germs. Xo

I suppose it depends upon what your WBC is on and off but can tell you that my job depends upon me traveling. I travel cross country and to Europe at least once a month and I have to travel regardless of on or off week. I just take extra precautions using Purell and hand washing cloths constantly. I wipe down airline tables with Lysol travel cloths, remotes in hotel rooms etc. I am vigilant about taking my vitamins and extra vitamin C. Oh and turn off the air vents on planes...do not allow these to blow on you as supposedly these carry recycled air and who knows if there are adequate and clean filters in place.

My onc says the beginning of the week off is when the counts are the lowest. That week off is when you rebuild before you start the next cycle.

Yes. My wbcs are low during my time off Ibrance. In fact I’m off it 3 weeks before they’re high enough for me to re-start next cycle. During the first 2 of those 3 weeks I am very tired. In Venice Italy at the moment having begun a trip to Europe 3 weeks ago. I’m on week 2 of being off and really tired. I’m masking in narrow streets and on water busses as very crowded and trying to get as many fluids as possible.

Have a great time with n your trip!
