Well after 7 cycles ibrance/letrozole combo isn't working. My onocologyst is moving me to fulvestrant. She would like me to start a clinical trial fulvestrant with this new drug ipatasertib. The trick is it's a double blind, Dr or yourself will not know if you are getting ipatasertib or placebo (I call a gummy bear)
My question is does fulvestrant work well just on it's own. I have liver leisions that just have to stop growing 😳. This will be my first trial and feel comfortable that if I want out at any time I can. They will also pull me out if leisions are progressing.
Thoughts?
Thank you ❤🙏

Dear Sandra, thank you for your well-informed response to Deb about this clinical trial. It is good information for all of us in case we need to move on to another treatment. I am so grateful you are on this site. I always appreciate your insight.
Hi Sandra - as others have said, thank you for the informative response. I would be interested in reading a couple of the research papers. I'm trying to stay up to date and have some literature for when/if I have to move from Ibrance/Letrozole. Thanks so much.
Thank you Sandra for your post 🥰. As usual always very informative and relevant!! I feel better about take on this clinical trial and actually excited!!! This could stabilize all. I know they will radiate or do something if the leisions take up too much real estate on my liver. Right now mostly everything I eat has to be good for my body and liver. I have given up most sweets, except dark chocolate. A little piece of dark chocolate with my green tea is heavenly lol.
I will let you know how well this trial is going. Of course being double blind, I nor the Dr know if I will be taking the gummy bear or Ipatasertib. I am going in with a positive attitude 🥰.
Are your liver enzymes elevated? Although it is good to get control of all mets, my understanding is that the major concern is whether or not liver mets are interfering with the functioning of your liver. Since the liver processes the drugs we consume, it seems that most drugs are associated with possible liver damage so there certainly is a trade-off.
Since I too have large liver mets, I'll be interested to read how you do in this clinical trial.
