I have a question of bladder infections. I haven't had one those in years. Anybody taking ibrance/letro get them? Maybe it's a side effect. When I was kid I would just drink a ton of cranberry juice and it would go.

Hi,I got them in the beginning. I started taking cranberry supplements since the juice had so much sugar. It’s been 4 years nowand no more UTIs, so I guess it’s working.

I have, and the last time I had a lengthy course of antibiotics and came off ibrance and it seems to have cleared it. But I ended up in hospital with a kidney infection. I had tried to alleviate the symptoms with drinking water and cranberry. The oncologist recommended cranberry so I now have a little Biona pure cranberry each day, but I would get antibiotics immediately in future after that experience.

Yes, I was getting quite often. I drink lots of water, cranberry juice, and Azo, an over the counter tablets. I even developed like an overactive bladder urinary condition. I constantly had to stop the Ibrance in order to take the antibiotics. Finally the primary ended up prescribing Oxybutynin Chloride ER 5mg. Been on it for about 6 months and has definitely helped.

This is all so much. I have spent the past 58 yrs in relatively great health. Back when I was a kid I did get a few bladder infection, 1 kidney. But that would be all I went to the Dr for, then pregnancy gallbladder removal. Boom hit 58 and all THIS !!! I never liked going to see Dr's, that would be for sick people I thought. I hated hospitals. Here I am with a general health Dr and onocologyst, monthly bloodwork, ct scans at the hospital every 2 mths, visit to the hospital again every 2 mths to see my onocologyst. Just gets frustrated and that this is NOT what I saw myself doing at 58, soon to 59 end of Jan 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. And I know I am not a lone in my frustration❤❤. BUT I move one and grateful for the beautiful life I do have ❤🙏.

I get it--same with me! Never went to drs before MBC. As for the UTI's--all my providers thought they were mostly irritants to the urethra and not actually infections. (Urine showed bacteria but they could never culture out a causative bug.) My oncologist prescribed 0.01 % estradiol vaginal cream. Studies have shown a small amount might pass into the body at first, but then after the tissues build backup again, none crosses. It has worked wonders. I tried everything: cranberry tabs, lots of water, Replens and the YES water soluble moisturizers. The e-blockers thin out the epidemial layers and our bodies can't protect themselves like they used to--all areas, like mouth, GI tract, vagina, urethra. MBC with all these harsh drugs is a tough life and hard to adapt! I try and make my schedule so I get at least a week, and maybe a month, that is "cancer-free" where I don't have appts. Support groups and counselors help get us through this too. It will get better as time goes on--I am in year 3.5. It is a total life change, that is for sure. Best to you! I try very hard to think that life can't always be about cancer. I am a single Mom with 2 teenage boys, a full time job, a daughter to an amazing Mom, sister to an amazing brother. I believe positive thoughts create positive outcomes. I am normally good at putting a positive swing on everything. My favorite saying when things go left "well now that's interesting". I keep the faith that we will live longer and longer as more drugs hit the market. I know there isn't a cure. They had asked me to take on another responsibility at work the other day. First thing that came to me was "I have cancer" I had to refocus, yes I do but there are people with type 1 diabetes, serious heart issues as a bunch of other chronic illness. Of course I can handle things. I have handled all of this. We all have !!!! There is such a strength and united front here. You have no idea how grateful I am to be able to access this amazing group !!! I know the wealth of information you all have. Even if it's "You GOT this" ❤❤Thank you to all ❤🙏

I used to get them and end up in hospital for 5 days. This happened every 3-4 months and came on just like that. So after the 3rd time in hospital they put me on antibiotics full time. I have taken them close to 2 years. I am on letrazol and Ibrance.

I got them a lot too, but find that taking a d mannose tablet every night helps tp prevent them.
