Hello pretty ladies 🌺🎀 I told you that last Friday I told the doctor that my urine smelled like rusty metal, I did a urine test and found a small infection. I am on antibiotics for 14 days and will repeat the test. I have no idea how this happened. I'm pretty careful. Happy day 🌺🎀

Orine infection
How are you doing Sandra? Glad to see your post and encouragement as always.
Thank you
How wonderful that she called you. My Onc didnt even bother to call and see me when I was admitted and she was in the hospital cos a nurse told me. Pfft. It must be so comforting to have that relationship. I wouldnt worry about your outburst as she said, she can understand your frustration. Who wouldnt. Take care xx Josie xx
My urine smells too. But they didnt find an infection. I'll keep an eye on it as i go into cycle 2 today.
Hey, come on. Dont be so hard on yourself. Im sure the oncologists and their teams are used to meltdowns. We are vunerable at the best of times. I believe the oncologist meant it when she said dont give it another thought
All the best
Xx
Morning Sandra,
Your oncologist sounds so caring. Mine has never called me at home to check on me, so you obviously have a really good personal relationship with your oncologist. I would not feel ashamed of how you reacted. You are under a lot of pressure at the moment, and you apologised. It's not as if you are habitually rude and disrespectful. People can tell when we react more out of frustration and fear, rather than our usual disposition, so can be forgiving of that.
Take care,
Sophie
Are you receiving Faslodex / Fulvestrant shots? Those will make your urine smell for a few days after the shots.
Feel better soon!
Sandra, push it far away! Your onc was so kind to call you!
I wonder if it's a side effect of the meds. I'm on Ibrance 100 mg. every other day (just did my first full 21 pill bottle with this dosage) and developed a bad bladder infection. I was also dehydrated, even tho I drink allot - and I mean allot! Stayed off the meds for a week - and just started back, with the meds hitting me hard. My bladder is hurting again! I felt amazing while off the med once the antibiotics kicked in.
I'm sure that you are not her first patient to strike out at her. She is probably aware that it is not meant directly at her, it's just that who else can understand your frustration. That is why some women have to realize that their oncos try their best and may not be able to spend as much time as you as you wish. They have to at some point be able to separate their emotional feelings from when they see a patient upset to their clinical duties. Hey, you got a call at home on a Saturday. That would never happen with my onco
It is interesting that a bladder infection would be detectable from odor. But I also don't always have the usual indicators such as burning pain. So it is obvious that the infections can present in different ways. You are doing the right thing in taking antibiotics because you do have to kill it. I have had many bladder infections and sometimes all I get is a very bad lower back ache. I always get to the doctor as soon as possible because once it got so bad I couldn't walk and I was in horrific pain. I ended up in the ER at our local hospital. It turned out to be a bladder infection. But after killing it with antibiotics my Urologist told me to use a tiny bit of Polysporin on my "pee hole" every morning after a shower or after washing down there. It seems to prevent bladder infections and since I have been doing that I only had one infection last year. I used to get them every couple of months. I passed this information on to my sister's friend and it works for her too. The other thing I do is not wash with soap in that area. I was wary at first that I would be dirty and smell bad. But that is not the case. I wash my female parts very thoroughly in the shower with warm water and surprisingly I find that I don't have any odor and seem to be very clean. Maybe that part of the female body only wants water. I don't think cave woman had access to soap and maybe water is all she used. I think there must be some natural flora and fauna down there that protect a woman and maybe we wash it away if we use soap. And I haven't had a BI for quite a long time now. Knock on wood. I hope this information helps you because a BI can cause a lot of stress. None of the other methods helped me in the past so I am now just doing the Polysporin and no soap thing. And I am grateful to my very sweet Urologist doctor for sharing this simple technique with me. Hugs Marlene
