Headache and exemestane? What to do?

Hi all,

I am here for my aunt. She has just switched from Tamoxifen to exemestane . From the second day she started taking exemestane , she got a terrible headache. That continues now for about a week. Has anyone experienced similar headache while on exemestane? Could it be considered a side effect? Or maybe something else??

The onc doc has prescribed also Afinitor, but we wait for the headache to go away before introducing it.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,Nice of you to ask questions on your aunt's behalf. For sure, headaches are a common side effect of cancer medications. I wake with a headache every morning but it goes away with an 81 mg asperin and water.

I'm not taking either exemestane or afinitor, but I may in the future. I strongly believe in phasing in medications, one at a time. I also take my cancer meds with food.

Please encourage your aunt to drink lots of water (at least 2 litres) and get outside exercise every day.

Good luck,

Cindy
