So glad reading the comments about lumps where fulvestrant has been injected. Was getting a bit worried as they have only just appeared and with the pain as well thought cancer was spreading to my bones.... Any tips for easing the pain would be helpful.

Fulvestrant
Sfit, I found this out the hard way. My butt had lumps as big as a baseball (after 3 years) and they started getting hard. The pain from the injections was awful. Get an Rx for Ladicane cream from your Onco. Rub it heavily on your "bumps" 45 minutes before injections. Cover it with plastic wrap to keep it off your clothes. (The plastic wrap sticks to your skin) Also, ask your nurses to put the syringes under their arms or hold in their hands for 30 minutes before injecting. You are not to have the injections cold!!! Also, the injections are to take 1 to 2 minutes. NOT 2 to 3 seconds. Most of the injection information can be found deeply buried in the Faslodex website. The Ladicane was my idea. My injections (done at the exact same time by 2 nurses) are now almost 100% painless! Hope this helps!
Thankyou, that really helped. Can stop worrying now!! Xx
Sorry to read about your pain. I had Fulvustrant for a year with no problems. Good advice from Sweetiepie. Especially warming it up before injections. My nurse used to give to let me hold them in my hands or put them in my arm pits while she did the vitals and got everything ready. Worked well. Well wishes.
Cheers, June S.
Thankyou for your advice. Was starting to worry!! Xx
I take pain killers for a tumour on my hip and so the needles didn't hurt me at all. Maybe take one or two Tylenol one hour before your appointment and apply heat after your appointment. I loved the heated seats in my car on the way home. I had a 45 min. drive home.

Hi. I have been on fulverstant 2 months and have had no side effects in fact I feel stronger. Never had any pain or trouble with the injections, I hear it takes 3 months to start working so am hoping that it does, Have 2 tumors in breast very large , one on clavicle and 3 in armpit so you can see I am in a bad state and could do with some reassurance or positive advice. Don't come on site very often because I try to forget but it's so hard.
I had a breast tumour and it went to my left hip. Of course nothing was done about the breast tumour as they always say. No point. However, after 7 yrs. that tumour began to grow and broke through the skin. A weeping smelly mess that wouldn't never heal. Then thankfully I was referred to an excellent breast surgeon and she was able to remove the breast and all of the involved under arm lymph nodes. That was in Jan. 2020. Positively no problems with the surgery healed nicely. And cancer has not returned to that area. Something to consider. Get a second opinion from a highly trusted source.
Cheers, June S.
I get the painful lumps every time. They are usually gone by the time I'm due for the next shots. I stand in the shower with the hot water on my backside and rub the areas gently. I normally don't take anything for it and continue to be active.
