Hi! So I'm 41 with "advanced stage 4 widespread metastatic disease " multiple bone involvement only being treated with Ibrance Letrozole zoladex and Zometa. I just have my 2nd 6 month Petscan which said "sclerotic osseous metastasis BUT no metabolically active lesion are seen. All hypermetabolic lesions have resolved" i have my appointment to discuss these results Thursday but to me this sounds great!. Its still showing metastasis but not metabolically active. Bone cancer has been so confusing to me. Does this mean I'm NED?

Do you have bone cancer or breast cancer that has metastasized to the bones? I would take those results as a good sign that you are stable.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a Lumpectomy 5/2020 finished radiation 9/2020 then started having chest pains 11/2020 but due to covid NO ONE wanted to see me. I was finally diagnosed 3/2021 with extensive bone only mets and now this report. Im LOVING the sounds of this result but I'm still in SOOO much pain. Anyway, thx so much for responding!!

I had similar results at my last PET scan and was told that was good news. They said there was no evidence of new disease. I have only had the MBC in my bones, too. I'm sure your doctor will explain these results further but I think you should be very encouraged. Best wishes.

Hi KimberlyB40! Most doctors don’t like to use NED with us Metsters. However they came up with a new one that most can agree on…NEAD-No Evidence of Active Disease…Which kind of fits better. Especially with the bone Mets. Those show up as healing bone for years. 😀

I did well on Ibrance and Faslodex. Unfortunately I had metastasized to right lung so they changed my treatment. I would think that is good news. Unfortunately I just found out now in my liver. So I too have cancer in both lungs, bone and liver but I am not giving up just yet. I am now on Xeloda and Halaven.Wishing you all the best and keep us posted.

Hugs

I believe so. Disease does not cure. No metabolic active lesions is excellent news. My last 3 show my cancer is in remission with no metabolic active disease. Wednesday I have my 4th 6 monthly scan at the Royal Marsden in London

Hi KimberlyB40, As you probably know NED= "no evidence of disease." With "advanced stage 4 widespread metastatic disease" you have bone cancer that is either in remission (old terminology) or you are stable. This is a good sign. Smiles. TTFN, -GH
