…but I am becoming very short of breath, and think that it may have stopped working. I have a CT scan tomorrow, and get to see my doctor Thursday, then may start a new treatment Friday, depending on the scan. My question is what have other people started taking once Xeloda failed them? My doctor says I have a few choices, but hasn’t yet described them…I’ve already done Ibrance, tamoxifen, Docetaxol, Afinitor…..she did say awhile ago that I might be able to do Docetaxol again….anyway, any input? Thanks!

I think I will be coming off of Xeloda, which I have loved….
I'm sorry to hear you may be off Xeloda, but let's hope your fears are unfounded and it's still working! My oncologist told me that if Xeloda fails me, she would want me on Doxil (which i am going to refuse).
Let us know your CT results....hoping for good results.

Thanks! I was on Doxil my first round of chemo, 25 years ago! It wasn’t too bad…but Xeloda is so much easier!! Thanks.
I take Doxel now at 60% dose and i am having no major issues. For the first couple months i developed a rash and sores on the top of my mouth. I do treatments once a mo. After eating ice during the treatments every mo the sores are gone and have not returned. The rash lasted a couple mo but has also gone. It takes about 3 mo to show any results but i think i am leveling out. I seem to be handeling ok right now.
DearTopoodI have no advice to give you but I want you to know that my heart goes out to you. These doctors will figure it out and help you along the road we are traveling on. We on this forum are strong in spirit! God Bless!
My appointment is at 2, but I have seen my CT scan which shows that I have lots of fluid around my heart and lungs….scary! Reading about this has made me think I may need surgery…..which is distressing because I’m hoping to do lots of traveling this summer….we shall see what the doctor says. This is such a complicated disease! Thanks for thinking of me….
Dear TopoodHow did it go with the doctor(s)? How are you feeling now that you have had the consultation? This is all such a bitch! I am sorry that you are having such worrying time.
Thanks so much! I’m going to need another liver biopsy, and then they will chose from a variety of drugs, most IV, unfortunately! I have been lately told that I’m straight ER+, but previously they thought I might be HER2neu+ also, so I was medicated for both….different areas are responding in different ways so now they think I may be HER2Neu+ again! So complicated! I had a really easy liver biopsy before so I’m not too worried about that….but I will miss a trip to NC, which is disappointing. Thanks again for keeping up!
Hello Topood, sorry to hear that you have to change from a med you like. As someone who is starting out on Xeloda, I am interested - what dose were you taking? Did you get any side effects?
I have been on Xeloda over a year and now take 2 pills in the am and 2 in the pm. One week on and two weeks off. I start on a Friday and by the end of the week I am tired. I take them at 10:30 am and 10:30 pm. My last cancer numbers came down from 164 to 148.
My cancer is 27-29. It’s estrogen based. Mushrooms take the estrogen out of your body. I eat mushroom omelettes. Best wishes. Reenie
I don't check this site to offer but just noticed your request. I was on Xeloda for 6 months. 2 weeks on and one week off and on the lowest dose.
Unfortunately I started with internal bleeding and as a result had surgery last week for a bleeding ulcer. My oncologist will not continue with the Xeloda because the bleeding ulcer is a result of the medication.
Presently on no chemo for a month and then will be having another CT scan to determine where we go from there.
