Hey everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the lovely fall weather (or springtime for those down under).
I have a question about Xeloda. On Wednesday I finished my first 2 week round of 1500 mg 2x daily. I had a little bit of hand and foot tingling and some pretty sever feet and ankle swelling, but the ache in my right side was minimal. Today, my right side is aching like crazy. I feel dizzy and woozy, and my digestive situation is in a bit of an uproar if you know what I mean. I had gotten used to the off week of Ibrance being a challenge. Have any of you on this Xeloda regimen experienced this pain/ache/inflammatory feeling when taking a week off? Is this just metabolic?
I am, of course, terrified the liver tumor is just growing by leaps and bounds. I'm such a downer!
Thanks in advance for any insight! Much love, Andi

Hi my mum is on Kapetral which is a different brand name from what I read of Xeloda. She is having her second course this week. She did and still having terrible pain in her thigh and knees. When she had her first week off she was more in pain. She was hoping the week off she will feel a bit better actually she felt worse. Can I ask do you take anything for the pain? She was told to take paracetamol but they aren't helping much.
I have had leg, ankle, foot pain as well. I try my best to ignore it, but when I can't, I take ibuprofen and use heat. Tonight, because it is much worse, I think I'll try a brownie a friend mad me.
Thank you for your response. Although I'm hurting, it calms my nerves. Why don't they tell us this stuff??
Andi, I am so sorry you are having to deal with these awful side effects of Xeloda. Hopefully the side effects will Decrease as your body gets used to it. Meanwhile, eat brownies!!
Hi, I understand your mind always runs to the worst first - there is usually a simple answer to be found. I did not have your symptoms but after my first 2 weeks on xeloda I completely crashed during the middle of the week off. For nearly 3 days I just felt awful and literally had no energy to do the simplest things. I also have problems with my haemaglobin levels so I was on the lowest dose possible. My oncologist changed it so I would be one week on and one week off to even out the build up and crash I experienced and it worked so much better for me. I think you should definitely talk to your onc as they may have a simple solution for you.
Glad you’re asking this....I start Xeloda tomorrow! Overall, I’ve heard good things about it from various sources, though it sounds as if it’s really challenging for you now....thinking of you!
