Ibrance, rhinitis and post nasal drip.

I must admit I’m desperate living with so much congestion. The drip in my throat is the worst. I am using a Netty pot several times a day, a spray of Ipatropium Bromide and And allergy spray. Does anybody have any solutions to this problem. Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning.

I am sorry I have no answers but I am watching this story to see if anyone has any answers. I am been like this for over 10 months . Nose sprays , pills sinus rinses etc... the post nasal drip is awful and the cough . I thought it was the ibrance BUT it was discontinued last November and the problem still persists. I am on total different treatment now. I have developed allergies??? And allergy pills only partially help it . I am hoping my family Dr. can refer me to an allergy specialist . During COVID it makes it a really uncomfortable time to have allergy symptoms.

I sure hope we both can get some answers to this. It’s really awful. I just went through allergy testing and I’m supposed to start getting shots but honestly I don’t think that’s what it is. But I’m going to do it because I have to try. Have you talked with your doctor about it? Mine has no answers

I have talked to my family dr , oncologist and a ENT surgeon, no answers. I have another appointment with my family dr in June and I am going to ask about allergy specialist . Luann

I personally do not think allergy shots are the way to go when you have cancer. I took them before I had MBC and stopped when I went in treatment based on gut and primary doc said NO

I believe it’s Herceptin and Pejeta that causes the awful dripping. My nose also gets very sore . I was advised to take an antihistamine and nasal cream . It helps a bit .

I will look into this , I have a phone appointment with my oncologist and should be restarting these medications , I have not had them in a month so we will see. Our bodies are all so different on how they react to the medications . When this all started with me I was actually on Ibrance and Faslodex , it was more severe then .

Hello Flavia100..reading your report,and to answer your question. I went to a allergies specialist before my cancer diagnosis and she put me on Azelastine HCI nasal spray 0.1% it really works for the nasal . I used the pot..but it wasn't any help..also use flonase..and ZYRTEC for my allergies. I will add adding more vitamins D to my diet.has help also..hope this is helpful to You.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am not familiar with that drug but I go to see the doctor on Tuesday and will ask about it. I’ll try anything at this point.

Hi @Flavia100.

My background - I was first diagnosed 2019, with breast cancer stage 4, ER+ PR+ HER- then was put on Ibrance & Letrozole and Xgeva every 3 months.

I had the same problem with nasal issues that I didn’t have before treatment and regular Dr. told me to take Zyrtec it’s over the counter.

But then in 2021 I went to Functional medicine Dr at Cleveland Clinic and she told me to start taking Biocidin.

Biocidin is all natural and you start out with one drop AM and one drop PM building up to 7 drops AM & PM. Biocidin is a natural antibiotic and has various forms.

Since going on Biocidin I have zero nasal issues and zero gut issues from Ibrance and Letrozole. They will be taking me off Biocidin after 90 days. So I don’t know if the nasal symptoms will return but for now they are gone.

Ask your Dr about Biocidin because everyone is different and I am not a Dr and note your regular Oncologist may not know about it so seek out Functional Medicine and or Integrative Medicine DR.

I see there are quite a few different types of Biocidin. Which one did you use and did you have to have a prescription? I’m guessing no

Hi. No prescription but I would ask your doctor about it first. Even though it’s over the counter and natural it’s strong.

I purchased the Biocidin broad spectrum drops.

Also if you get mouth sores brush with Dentalcidin tooth paste and rinse with Dentalcidin LS in pump bottle.

I took them about 2 months before I noticed I no longer gad issues.

I also stopped all dairy. I noticed dairy made me get worse.

I have had a runny nose since I began taking Ibrance and Letrozole. I sympathize with you as it is never ending sinus congestion.

Recently put on Azalastine nose spray also. It works better than Flonase for me.
