Covid 19 vaccine and scans

I am posting for my wife. We received the results from her scan yesterday and a spot underneath her armpit has shown some uptick. The previous scan same spot was so small doc didn't even mention it. My wife also had her second vaccine dose 5 weeks ago. The oncologist thinks it could be inflammation(possibly from vaccine), and is consulting with our second opinion team at Vanderbilt. Has anybody had similar scan results after getting vaccinated?

Thank you so much for the response. Her shot was on the opposite side. We have not heard back from doc, but at this point leaning towards continuing treatment(herceptin and perjeta) and having another scan in 4-6 weeks. That was also the suggestion from our oncologist. Just trying to gather as much info as possible. Thanks again, our thoughts and prayers are always with this community. The information I have gotten from here has been invaluable during my wife's first year since her MBC diagnosis.

For what it’s worth my Onc feels the vaccine can possibly impact both glands and tumor markers, based on what he’s been seeing.

I wonder if the CDC is tracking this data as it would be useful to aggregate it beyond the anecdotal.

HiYes my lymph nodes are swollen ct scan showed it on the left side under my arm from vaccine shot in that arm per the dr

Oncologist said they are seeing this all the time more and more and are not ordering anymore scans for a few months

Best regards, Susie

Yes! I had exactly the same thing....the lymph nodes in my right armpit have been cancerous, but none on my left til my most recent scan....then my oncologist asked what arm I got the vaccine in and it was my left! So my lymph node was not very probably not cancerous, but just faithfully doing its job!!!! I bet that’s true for your wife too.

Yes my tumor markers increased dramatically after CoviD shot! I’m about 6 weeks out from shot. My other bone Mets decreased but a new one in my spine appeared. Doctor will wait to see what May tumor markers look like
