I survived WBRT!

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with brain Mets in November after 3 years of peace and quiet... Was on Herceptin/Perjeta for 4 1/2 years... Now on Kadcyla. I finished WBRT on December 10...Took a good 6-8 weeks for the fatigue to improve. The dry mouth is still driving me crazy.

But Mondays scan came back drastic improvement... No lesions seen! So excited moving forward...The WBRT is really tough with the physical fatigue...So glad that’s over... Have a large group of pray warriors behind me though!

-Blessings!❤️

That’s great news. So glad it worked and you’re past that. I’m on the herceptin perjeta combo now for past 2 years. Here’s to a wonderful uneventful spring and summer!!

I’m so happy for you! Prayers are the best medicine. I can attest to that. I survived WBRT too and from almost dead, I am thriving🙏

Congratulations on the excellent results! Good to know the fatigue has ended too, and in the time scheme put forward by radiation oncologists. I’ll find out in a month or so if WRBT is right for me. Other than the dry mouth, may I ask if you experienced other side effects?

With best wishes,

Fi.

When I say bad fatigue I mean like the goal was to get dressed and eat a couple small meals each day...A few small chores is all I could manage... Thank God for Amazon shopping for Christmas! It would have been gift cards otherwise through Giant Eagle Curbside pick up with my groceries! 😂🤣😂

The clinical trials for the cancer vaccine we’re supposed to start in September. I hope CoVid didn’t bother the start date...😀❤️😀

Will you please tell me what WBRT is? Somehow I’ve missed that one. Is it only for brain Mets?

Hi! Kadcyla is basically like being on nothing at all...U may need a nap but other than that no real side effects...😀

Thank you for speedy reply! Good to hear you are tolerating it well. I know we are all different but just wanted a 'review'. 👍

Hi ,

Hope your doing good , my mother who is 57 yrs old recently underwent WBRT and even after 5 weeks still she has nausea and vomiting sensation along with fatigue. Could you please let me know whether its common side effects and still how many weeks it last ?

Thank you

Nausea could still be normal….however don’t be afraid to ask for another med for your stomach if it’s been over a month and it’s still not working…Fatigue could last a good 6 months. It was a year in November for me. Just now feeling back to normal 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for your reply, would reach out to onco for another med for Nausea.
