Amazing NHS following positive covid test

Hello everyone

Today I have received an anti viral infusion in hospital following a positive PCR test result on monday, NHS contacted me within 24 hrs of that result to see if I was eligible and due to meds of course I was. Feeling very fortunate and once again want to sing their praises as they are so on the ball.

So far I've had very very mild symptoms of covid, only really a bunged nose. Have been concerned as only 6 weeks on from WBRT.

I wish you and your families a peaceful Christmas and good wishes for 2022.

Stay safe. Xx

Hello I am sorry you got Covid but glad you have access to treatment. I hope you will feel better soon and will be able to enjoy the holidays.

Take care

Helen

Thank you for your kind reply as always Sandra.Yes it's one thing I can't knock our government for which as well as rolling out the vaccine was also securing these anti virals for the most vulnerable, sadly it's all I can praise them for but I will sing all day long the praises of the NHS.

Wish all countries had access to free life saving treatments, but as you say it is as it is.

All the best, Caroline x

May your symptoms continue to be mild! So glad you got that anti-viral treatment. Pfizer got approval for an anti-viral pill in the States today. What a game this has been!

So glad you are managing with mild symptoms and you have had the new treatment. I was wondering how they would work out who to give it to.I hope they get more as there are only a certain amount and I can’t see there being enough with everyone with diabetes alone who will test positive!

Dear Caroline,

I am so sorry you have Covid and I hope the anti virals work for you and your symptoms remain mild. It is such a worry atm.

On 20 December I received an email from the NHS about the anti viral treatment. They will be sending a PCR test for me to keep at home and if I develop symptoms I should take the test straight away and they will contact me if it’s positive and I may get the anti viral treatment.

I would have thought everyone in England with MBC would have received the same email.

Only problem for me is that I can only access this during my week in England for treatment. Hungary has one of the highest death rates per infection rate as the healthcare here is on its knees. I feel it is only a matter of time before I catch the virus even though I rarely go out to indoor venues. But of course I “run the gauntlet” flying back to the U.K. monthly/six-weekly for treatment.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience, it gives me hope.

Take care and Merry Christmas. Vicki

Wow! You fly to England for your treatments? Are you unable to get treatment in Hungary? Stay safe. Faith

Ugh, so sorry to hear you caught covid. I hope you recover very quickly. That’s an amazing outreach by your health system! That must have been such a relief for you to be able to get that quick access to treatment at least. May you return to your normal self with ease. Warm wishes for Christmas and the New Year!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! I am happy for you that you received the anti viral drug! It should keep things minimal I would think! Rest up!
