Blood Transfusion?

The chemotherapy I'm on, carboplatin, is apparently notorious for causing anemia. Since I'm already anemic, my RBG has dropped to the lowest it's ever been (for me). I've tried IV iron and arinesp, an EPO like shot, and neither has boosted my counts. So, my MO is recommending a blood transfusion, perhaps Monday. Anyone else experience this? If so, what's been your experience? Thoughts?

I have not had one but I would think it will definitely make you feel much better

I experienced red blood cell counts low enough to require a blood transfusion during my last 8 weeks of chemo in 2018. It was easy, convenient and actually nice to have the quiet break for several hours to read, relax, meditate, watch stuff on YouTube! It definitely made me feel better too.

Thanks, Annie. What drug did you have then?

doxorubicin (Adriamycin) & cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) - double dose every other week for 8 weeks (4 doses total)

Ok, Adriamycin can be tough. Hang in there. I didn't end up need the blood transfusion after all. My HBG went up a full point over the week last week.
