Xeloda and blood tests.

Hi everyone I had a problem getting my xeloda tablets as it was nine days since I had a blood test. They told me that it has to be closer to giving me the tablets so I couldn’t have them until I’d had a more recent test done. Is anyone else in the UK experiencing this on the NHS? I thought 9 days was close enough especially since I then have a week without chemo after that to build up neutrophils again.

Hi Scandia, I am in the UK also. I take 100 mg palbo for 21 days then 10 days off because my neutrophils take so long to get back to 1.0. On day 10 of that time off I have a blood test and usually on the next day the clinic rings to say they will order the palbo. I have a few pills in hand! so if I am given the ok I start taking the palbo that day. Hope that makes sense. All the best, Fay
