A new addition to my wellbeing and plant life. Im absolutely taken by this African Parachute plant. It’s so unusual. Seems to grow an inch a day. Makes a change to my scenery and veggie pictures.
Have a good weekend ladies.

That's a very interesting plant I've never seen anything like it.
Me neither xx😀
Wow, that is so cool looking!!
I'm so impressed that you and others can keep plants alive, I have tried many times, but kill everything, even succulents....and, no joke, "lucky bamboo"! Indoors/outdoors (tried herbs in pots this year), doesn't matter. And, perhaps oddly, it makes me very sad for them when they're dying ...so I should probably give up trying and instead just enjoy the pics that you and other share!
LynnFish! oh my gosh -- likewise. I really try, even! and I LOOOOVE plants and flowers -- I couldn't even keep petunias going this summer. . . already planted healthily in a pot. Get a peace lily! its the ONLY plant I have been able to simply water and look at . . . uggh.
Don’t know where my green fingers come from really. I was brought up in a flat in London. My parents didn’t know anything about gardening. I think when I had my first garden it was trial and error and I just moved on from there. So glad I did.
Maybe it skips a generation? My folks were/are phenomenal gardeners...Somehow in our little yard in an NYC suburb they grew every vegetable you can imagine, including rows of corn behind the garage! :). Believe me, we were the only family with corn in our yard!
That’s so good. Utilising every bit of space to grow food and feed the family.
All you need to do is throw the seed in a pot Lynn with some canes and cut and water them. Couldn’t be easier. Have you tried growing Cacti. They are trouble free.
You make it sound easy! And come to think of it I do have a small cacti that's doing quite well! :).
Awww it’s got a little hat on!!
How big is that going to get?
Clare x
It twines around Clare so probably as tall as you want it to be. I wish the photo was clearer. The underneath of the flowers has black spots. It’s wonderful. My Stepdaughter got a dozen from the wholesalers to sell in her shop. I couldn’t resist when she offered one. It’s thriving in just a couple of weeks.
It certainly is a fascinating plant. Mind it doesn’t take over like the triffids!!

Wow! Fun to watch, I’m sure! Thanks for sharing!
Very interesting!
Dear Flowerfaires2
As you know, I get such a kick out of your name. It is so lighthearted and away from the topic of our group. I so enjoy your pictures. i have a brown or black thumb except my herb growing. They are well cared for because I love to cook and my herbs complete my food. Yeah!
Well done on the herbs. We are going to grow more next year. Hubby is the cook. The wild life love our Coriander, Basil and Chervil. Parsley is ok. We have a thriving Sage plant. The rest will be planted from seed next year. Isn’t it great to grow your own? Fresh and nutritious. Enjoy🙏🏼💖
You really are a flower fairy! I can imagine you dancing on top of your very unusual looking plant😄
Ha ha........twinkle toes (not really).😄🤣
Stunning, so unusual.
Hi Cheryl,
What an unusual looking plant! Good for you, for tending and nurturing it. I try my best to get things to grow, but I am not always successful. My strawberries did well this year, and my potatoes are coming in, but my parsley didn't grow and I managed to kill a cutting of mint from my dad's garden. Who kills mint?! The herb is virtually a weed!! Now I know to just let it grow wild in my garden and to not put it in a pot. A friend dug up her blackcurrant bush and gave it to me once, but I killed that too.
Sophie
Hi Sophie, it’s been great so strawberries. All the rain we have had. We grew Charlotte potatoes this year. They were ok but not my favourite. They are a salad potato really. You are right about the mint, it takes over normally. Maybe there wasn’t enough root. It’s hard to move blackcurrant bushes if they are established. Their roots get Vine Weevil sometimes. It’s a real pest to get rid of. We had around 10kgs of black currants from 3 bushes this year. They have taken over the freezer. We have made couli and jam. Goodness knows what we will do with them all. Parsley takes ages to germinate or it could be old seed. I’ve put some in this year and it looks fine so far. I’ve been told by hubby that I can’t cut it the first year as it has to mature, ok I said.........we shall see. Keep trying Sophie, I’m sure you will succeed in the end.
Happy Sunday
Cheryl🍃🍃🌱🎋🍒☔️
Hi Cheryl,
Happy Sunday to you too. Thanks for the tips! I won't give up. My mum was so good at growing food. She made it look effortless! She would throw some tomato seeds or potato peelings into our little vegetable patch and the next thing you knew we were inundated with food. You could be right about the parsley. They may have been old seeds. I planted the seeds straight into the ground. Maybe I should have put them in a pot first and then transferred them once they had germinated. I'm envious of your blackcurrants! I was so hopeful that the blackcurrant bush would take. I have several pounds of cherries I picked in July. I spent ages pitting them and then I froze them, so at least I will have them for a while. I'm not sure what to do with them, but at least I have options and I am not in a hurry to use them up before they go off. I plan to do the same with the blackberries I have been picking lately. I just got home from the woods with my dad and brother and I filled two large containers of blackberries. I normally eat them fresh, but I would like to have a supply of blackberries over the coming months when they are no longer in season.

Wow! How unusual.
That is so cool I have never seen a plant like that and I was in the floral business for 25 years . There is so many plant varieties and they are so popular now in home decor.
It really is unusual. If you have 25 years experience and haven’t seen one before I’m wondering if it’s a new introduction to the UK. Super excited to have it. It’s thriving in the full sun.
🌝🌺🌸
I’ve never seen this plant before. Very unique looking.
