I’ve been suffering with trying to walk, thinking I would get over it. An MRI showed no break, but a couple of bone lesions that perhaps could be radiate to get me off the cane and out of pain. Before I had the evaluation todo so, I fell and broke my femur bone. It was/is the worst pain! I’ve just returned home from hospital and am in therapy which is very painful. I guess the fact that my cancer is in my bones have given these complications. Any one who has bone Mets and lesions please be extremely careful about falling! It can be devastating and end up with serious complications. So far I am progressing and will have the staples taken out this week, I have a steel rod down my le with screws, but I’m walking, Thank God! Very grateful to be able to go forward! Kathy

Femur lesions
I'm so sorry to read this Kathy, you had just recently written about trying the radiation. I appreciate you taking the time to gently remind us to take care!
Are you still on Xgeva? I'm nearing the 3-year mark on Xgeva and have been wondering how long it will be effective. I get it every 3 months now. I don't have any particular recurring pain, just some rib areas that can get painful if I overdo.
I hope the therapy gets easier and you find that you can walk better with the steel reinforcement.

Patty, I am on Xgeva now every 3 months. I was just thinking that up until now I ha no major complaints about pain and now I have been faced with it! Unfortunately what can we expect when this damn disease is in our bones! I’m just happy that I’ve come this far and I’m not ready to give up! I’ll do anything to get going again, even if I have to have more radiation! I just want to live. And stay happy! Kathy
Oh, my goodness, Kathy. Your suffering all this just makes me (and probably most of us) cringe. So glad to know you were able to get home fairly quickly. So hoping this healing is not only smooth and uneventful but as complete as we humpty-dumpty sisters can heal.
I understand the fear of falling. With mets to pelvis, femurs and throughout spine and shoulder, I’ve had to give up climbing, horseback riding and also my bicycle. But (unfortunately) your experience reminds me not to fuss about what I can no longer do, and be grateful instead for short walks and small jobs in my yard that get me out of the house.
Hoping you get to return to some of the lovely things soon.
BTW: radiation therapy on my hips, pelvis and ribs has helped tremendously.
All the best, kc
Thanks for your thoughts and encouragement! They said in about 3 weeks I will meet with the radiologist and maybe have some radiation! It’s hard for a person like me to sit still and not get to my gardens, but fortunately I have a wonderful and loving daughter and 3 great sons all here in Syracuse and willing to do whatever! Believe I feel the love and have a very grateful heart! I have also been blessed with a significant other after losing my husband 15 years ago! It takes a village and I am lucky to have such a strong on! Blessings to you and stay well!❤️ Kathy
Take care, I hope you heal and the pain subsides soon. A break in the femur is very painful. 🤗🤗🤗
Wishing you strength, peace and perseverance in your continued recovery and rehabilitation.
So sorry for your complications, but relieved you are walking. So scary isn't it! Damn cancer!
I really like how you see the positive in your life. Your right don't focus on what you can't do, but be grateful for all the things you can do. Amen
