Liver scan after finding new growths after cat scan?

I had breast cancer in 2015. Beat it. Had APL leukemia in 2017. Beat it. Found out in Nov 2018 that my breast cancer had metastasized to my sternum. Went on Ibrance, Xgeva, and faslodex. My cancer markers dropped dramatically. Then, at my June labs, it showed that my cancer markers had nearly doubled. My wbc and neuts were in the toilet. I was taken off all meds and got a cat scan. It showed that my original lesion on my sternum had shrunk a lot but a new one had sprouted right next to it. Plus, I now have growths on my liver. I am scheduled for a liver biopsy next week. Has anyone else experienced anything like this. I feel so down! From Dec-May, I felt as if I were doing well and then.....everything just fell.

I have extensive bone mets on Ibrance letrazole denosumab..liver met grown in size...not had biopsy but having it zapped with SABR radiation..my oncologist doesn’t want to change meds just yet as bones are responding

I have only the one liver tumour so maybe that’s why?

I've been on 14 lines of therapy since my stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis in 1998. So that means my cancer has progressed 13 times. It's a roller coaster ride once you're diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. You're always on treatment and cancer will eventually outsmart the treatment you are on. The key is trying to get as much out of each line of therapy you can and to stay as mentally and physically healthy as possible so you can withstand any treatment in your future. Easier said than done. My treatment summary is on my blog if you want to check it out. catsncancer.com/2018/10/01/...

Yes, similar thing happened to me. I don't say I "beat it" though. Just that I was no evidence of disease for 5-6 years after an initial stage IV diagnosis. Mets to bone at initial and then when returned in 2017, it went back to the C-spine. Went on Ibrance/Faslodex and worked for a few months. Next scan showed progression to the liver and change of type from ER/PR+ to triple neg. It's treatable and I've had good results with the current chemotherapy regimen.

You're allowed to feel deflated. It's a tough road and you've already traveled it quite a bit. Keep going, keep moving and use whatever images serve you, beating, battling, winning, whatever, that will help you and your head and heart stay in the game. All the best to you!!

I had BC in 2011. In Late October 2018 I felt shortness of breath and found out I had Mets to plural area. On Letrozole for one month, then Ibrance/Letozole for a total of 5 months. My recent Pet/Ct scan shows recessions in plural area and one area of bone. It also showed more bone Mets and liver Mets. I just had a biopsy and they will do gene testing. Changing meds as well. I’m feeling the same.
