Previous treatment of Tecentriq+Abraxane was beginning to stop working so my oncologist switched me to Carboplatin+Gemzar. Funny thing is, this is the treatment she was considering before but she went with the Tecentriq+Abraxane instead. Even though it was beginning to not work anymore, I’m glad I got a chance to try Immunotherapy because now I don’t have to wonder what it would be like. I switched treatments about two weeks ago. So far, so good. A little indigestion but I take Pepcid for that now. Gemzar burns a little going in but that’s because I have tiny veins. The nurse slowed down the rate of administration so that helped.

Topaz - I'm so sorry that you had to make a change but I'm glad that you are finding ways to overcome the issues with the new treatment. I do admire that "problem solving" attitude!
I wish you great success with the new treatment...
Thank you! 🤗 As long as treatments remain available (and tolerable), I’m going to do them.
I was on Tecentriq and Lynparza for 9 months in a clinical trial. I’m now on Keytruda and Xeloda, so am getting to try another immunotherapy. This one seems to be working better as a lot of my pain and inflammation have gone away, but I will know more when I get my scan the end of May. Just saying there may be other opportunities for more immunotherapy in the future. The more options, the better!
Hi Bubbles, may I ask your type of cancer? How's Keytruda been for you so far? I heard it can affect the thyroid gland, any issues? God bless.
No issues with thyroid. Really, no side effects except a little fatigue. I have cancer in my bones and liver. All are Her2-. Liver is 99% ER +. Had skin mets that were triple negative that went away. I have the BRCA2 mutation.
Txs for your kind response. We are thinking about Pembro. Just like you, we also are dealing with lesions to bones and liver. We are mTNBC with no BRCA, no PD-L1 but still may try Pembro, if it has a low chance of destroying the thyroid we might give it a try. God, can't wait for sacituzumab govitecan to be available here in Canada. Cheers.
I don't have PDL1 (or however you say it) but my onc says Keytruda will still have other benefits. He has a lot of expertise in immunotherapy having worked with skin cancer patients as well as breast cancer, so I trust what he says. I'm not familiar with sacituzumab govitecan but am glad they approved a new treatment for TNBC. Best of luck to you!
My oncologist barely got me in there. I technically wasn’t eligible for immunotherapy because I’m ER+. She was able to get me qualified for it because I’m only 10% ER+, which they count as triple negative, but that probably explains why it worked but only for a little while. I got 7 months out of it before I had to change treatments though!
The % change. I was PR neg the first liver biopsy and then 96% I’m the second one. I think you can get benefit from immunotherapy with ER positivity. That’s my hope. They tested TNBC people first because there are fewer options, but my hope is, it works for all.
Hang in there Topaz. You've got a great attitude. Sending love your way. <3
Hi Topaz, may I ask how long Tecentriq worked for you? Thanks.
Where do you live and where are you treated?Bonnie
