Good morning 🌺❤️ with faith that we will soon overcome this crisis.
Today for the first time since my diagnosis, the dra sent me the Zoladex injection so that I could do it myself and not go to the hospital. Has anyone had injections at home ????
Please take good care

I have never had to administer my own zoladex injections before, but the thought has crossed my mind in case my doctor's surgery closes (one of the two doctor's surgeries in my town has closed). I always have a local anaesthetic when my doctor administers the zoladex. Have you been given anything to numb the pain? If you are not feeling confident about doing it yourself, can you ask a friend or family member to inject you? Or maybe ask for some pointers from your doctor? I am prepared to do it myself if this lockdown continues and I am told to do it myself. But I would prefer a doctor to do it! I wish you all the best. Let me know how you get on.
That is a good one. I came across that one over a year ago, and it was the one I thought of when I read Maludagui's post this morning. I was going to post the same link.
It's not so bad when the area has been numbed, believe me! The first zoladex injection I received was at the hospital right after I had just met my oncologist for the first time. The oncology nurse who administered it didn't offer me any pain relief and I didn't think to ask for any as I'd never had a zoladex injection before. I felt like I had just been stabbed. Every injection I have had since then has been given after I have received a local anaesthetic.
I have Zoladex next Friday...Sorry my first comment is lower in this thread...they murmured something about the shots last time not realizing I wasn’t due till this time...we’ll see...not looking forward to doing this myself if that’s their new policy...🙈
Oh, I see. Hopefully you won't have to administer your own zoladex injections. I would rather not either, but if it's a toss up between skipping an injection and doing it myself I would rather do it myself.
I've watched some ladies (on YouTube) who self-administered. If you happen have lidocaine or a numbing agent, you can numb the spot before doing the shot. You can ask for prescription strength lidocaine and/or some tegaderms.
I've got lidocaine and zoladex syringes on my repeat prescription list, so in theory I could do it myself. I haven't had to yet, but I wouldn't be against the idea. I don't mind needles. I used to have a diabetic cat, so would regularly administer his insulin injections each day.
I just pinched muscle in my tummy and injected in one side of my tummy. I've never had anaesthetic so just one injection
Wow! I'm so impressed that you're going to do this! Good for you!
p.s. when another member was concerned about her hospital cancelling injections (Faslo, I think...) I wondered if self-injection might be an option...I don't know how Zoladex is injected but I think that Faslo has a very specific procedure...I'm due for my injections on Monday, I suppose I'll take all precautions and head to the hospital for that...
I always administered my own zoladex before I had my ovaries removed.
It’s pretty straight forward. Pinch the flesh on your abdomen and insert needle in fully between a 30-45 degree angle depending on the amount of flesh you have (I had plenty 😂).
Yes. Good morning. I know. But in this circunstances. I think the hospital here in Houston is collapsing I scare , I watch tutorial in you tube very long time
I’m due for my Zoladex in 4 weeks as I get the 3 month 10 mg shot. I have a few nurses in the fam that I may employ if they won’t do it for me. 😱🙈 But I think I’ll watch this video just in case!
Sister, and yessssssss warrior I have faith in God that you can do this, and become a pro at it. I am happy you have the option to do it yourself, and be safe from a visit to a doctor or hospital that may expose you to the Corona virus. You got this sister/warrior. God bless you. XoXoX
I’ve asked for my Estrogen levels to be checked. They said they don’t do them at my center. 🤷♀️ It’s the same with my Zometa. I asked if my bone density has improved and my Onc said they don’t monitor that. 🤷♀️
