Ibrance trearment not working
Hi Anita-B -
I don't have a direct answer to your question, i.e. I have not done Xeloda, but I'm sorry that you're dealing with the stress of changing treatment.
I'm sure that others will respond...I think I've seen some discussion re: Xeloda here. While you wait to here from other, more knowledgable people, maybe you can use the search bar, upper right, to look for previous questions re: Xeloda?
My best to you, and I hope the new treatment works well...
Lynn
Changing medicines is very stressful.
There are many encouraging posts here if you search for xeolda in this site. I experienced very mild nausea first teo times that almost disappeared third time.
Very important to moisturize soles of your feet and hands....at least three times a day to avoid problems of HFS
several suggestions on blog fr good cream. My nurse recommended Hollister skin conditioning cream. I think the name of another one was Utter something. Looking forward to good news from you and everyone
Good luck with this treatment, try to stay thankful and positive,a challenge but sounds like you're doing well,on to complete cure. Take care
Good morning Lynn...at least is morning here in Louisiana, USA.
Ibrance worked for me but only for about 4 months. Got rid of the liver met, but did nothing to stop progression in my hip and L1-L2. So changed to Arimedex which did nothing but make me extremely sick....diarrhea, fatigue, dehydration and Erythema nordosum whic was painful and horrible. . Doc gave me a 1 month break and started me on Xeloda on Nov 23,2019. It has been rough, not as bad as the Arimedex for sure, but developed Hand and Foot syndrome and pretty bad stomach issues. Doc put me on Potassium pills for low Potassium and small dosage of steroid to calm the Hand and Foot problem. I use suggested creams on feet and hands twice a day.
Finally, in the last 3 days, I am feeling better. Lost 16 pounds which I didn't need to loose, but I think that is mostly from loosing so much fluid during the stomach issue.
Hope you don't have these problems....all depends on how your body reacts.
I will be ready for a Pet Scan at the end of this month to see if the Xeloda has helped. I have a tumor on my right adrenal gland which we are addressing. All other mets are stable or dead which were cleared by Eribulin infusions for several months between the Ibrance and Arimedex.
Wishing you the best.

Hi Anita; I had a good 7-month run on Xeloda, the only side effects for me were the foot issues (feeling sunburned, some peeling) and occasional queasiness, though never nausea. I used Udderly Smooth Extra Care 20 on my feet, every morning and before bed and sometimes mid-day. When my feet started feeling hot I soaked them in a tray of cool or ice water. I didn't have an issue with my hands but I was pretty careful not to have them in hot water too much.
I think Xeloda dosing and scheduling make a difference with side effects. I was on 1300/mg morning and evening, 7 days on, 7 days off. If I had stayed on it for 14 days I think it would have been harder on my feet.
Alas the Xeloda stopped working on my liver mets and today I'm moving on to Abraxane, an IV chemo like Taxol but without solvents or steroids. I hope you get a good long run on Xeloda!
All the best,
Patty
Hi Anita - saw the doctor this morning and got the results of scan done this past Saturday. Xeloda continues to work for me after 2 years and 1 month. Was switched to Xeloda after progression on Ibrance and Letrozole. Before that had been on arimidex and aromasin and Zometa. Was diagnosed mbc in 2012 and am so grateful Xeloda continues to be effective. Liver and chest mets have all improved significantly and remain stable without any of the severe diarrhea or hand foot syndrome I was warned about. I do get tired and hair is thinning but overall feel ok. I have worked full time since this all began and continue to do so. I do 2 weeks on and 1 week off. All the best as you start this new med. I hope you have great success with it.
Thank you so much this has given me a boost to know u have done so well on Xeloda and also that u were diagnosed in 2012 8 years well done. I was diagnosed in Nov 2016, at present au my lesions are in my bones but know this will not always be the case . Wishing u continued good results.
I have been on Xeloda for about 10 months, and have remained stable with all my blood work and lowered tumor markers. I was on Ibrance and Faslodex for 18 months before it became ineffective. On Xeloda, very few side effects, just neuropathy in my feet, and dry feet and hands, but nothing that I can't deal with. Wishing you good luck on this drug!
This is exactly what I will be doing. Only took Ibrance 2 weeks but blood counts dropped so much had to stop. Let’s keep our fingers crossed the Xeloda works without too many side effects!
