My MRI was stable. I was hoping for shrinkage of the liver tumor, but I am happy there is no progression. I am on Faslodex only for 7 months because of difficulty swallowing pills. My labs are normal including normal tumor markers.

So you are able to just get the injections (I get falsodex injections also) but I am now on Verzenio pills. It started out okay when I switched from Ibrance to Verzenio (after rejecting the higher doses of 150 mg. and 100 mg. twice per day),. I would love just to get the injections without taking the meds bc now they are starting to take its toll. So for some, it works anyway without the meds and just the injections or is it just certain areas where the cancer goes that allows you to just get the injections?

I don't know. I am only getting injections because I have difficulty swallowing pills and capsules. My onc would like me to be on Ibrance, but decided to try the shots only.

I think the Ibrance, unfortunately, is a big part of the treatment. The falsodex stops the body from making the estrogen and the Ibrance makes the cancer cells stop splitting and dividing. I was on Ibrance and falsodex injections. I was only on three cycles of the Ibrance (125 mg. dose) and it compromised my immune system, so I had to have surgery, long recovery. Point is I had to go off the Ibrance for almost four months but continued to get the falsodex injections. Then before I was going to go back on the Ibrance, they did a series of tests, and ultrasounds and they found that in the short time I was off the Ibrance, I had developed a new tumor in my right breast that already had a large tumor. They said tumor was a new one that developed far from the original one. I had to then get biopsies of both breasts (AGAIN) and I was lucky in that it was the same type of breast cancer I had. I never knew that you could get two types of breast cancer in one breast so my treatment remained the same.

Maybe if you put olive oil on it it would slide down more easily and be easier for you to take. Verzenio (which I am now now) are very very small pills. I realize now that for me not taking any kind of med (the Ibrance) and just the shots did not work bc another tumor formed. My onco decided NOT to put me back on the Ibrance so now Verzenio.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry you have had difficult times. I never thought of trying olive oil to help get a pill down. I had a mammogram two weeks ago and it was normal. I have told my onc that I could hopefully get a small pill down. It may come to that, but am happy that my MRI is stable.

Thank you.

No progression is good. After 19 months of no progression that’s all I hope for when I have my scans.

My oncologist appointment is Tuesday so he will likely book it then. Thank you
