Has anyone had sciatic nerve pain from nurse injecting faslodex shot in sciatic nerve, rather than the buttock muscles. If so, how long did the pain last. I read that this is sometimes done accidentally. It scares me. Blessings, Hannah

Hi good morning beautiful lady 🌺🎀

I did not understand well. Did you have the injection in the path of the sciatic nerve?

My experience. When they give me the injection, they put it in my belly. The next 4 or 5 days I have a lot of pain in the lower back and hips. Little by little it is happening. I use creams for arthritis pain. And I take tylenol I hope it helps you. Please tell me where you got the injection. Regards 🌺

Falsodex injections are always given in the buttocks from what I understand. Are you sure you are getting falsodex injections in your stomach. There is another kind of injection that is given in the stomach, but I do not believe falsodex injections are. They are the least bothersome for me. I can walk, sit, and even when I take the bandages off, there is no blood or anything. I just feel very itchy in that area for a few days after and feel a lump which is try to massage.

Maludagui and Kearnan, I haven't started taking it yet. I heard that you have to be careful they get it in buttock muscles so they don't hit sciatic nerve. It made me a little scared. Didn't mean to confuse. Blessings Hannah

Yes it is a concern. I did get sciatica from an injection.

It has to go in the upper outer quadrant of the buttock and it is two shots- one to each buttock. The drug needs to be warmed up. It is good if you walk after; if you drive a warm pack to each helps. Otherwise when you get home a heating pad for 15-20 minutes.

It is the least problematic drug.

You should have no problems if it is done correctly.

I have been getting monthly falsodex injections for over a year and a half. As a matter of fact Monday I get them again. I have no issue with them and find them to be the easiest part of this all. I should mention that I have a fat butt LOL...The first time I had to get the injections and pull down my pants I was mortified and depressed and the technician said "Finally, something I can work with." I had to laugh but she told me that very thin women scream and yell. When she is doing my right butt, I put my weight on my left side and vice-versa. She then puts a bandage over both. Once it is done, I feel no pain. I can walk and sit immediately. I know some ladies use heating pads, etc but I have no reason to need them. When I take off the bandages, there is never anything on them, no blood or anything. Some of the technicians are a bit easier than others but never any problems and sometimes my butt is itchy for a few days. I never had pain put in wrong that I was in severe pain. Do not worry about something that MAY or MAY NOT happen. I am in and out in a few minutes after the shot. I wish the meds were that easy.

Faslodex is given in the buttocks. One shot each buttock. It is way too big and viscous for the arm or stomach. Please don't let them do this!

Xvega in stomach I believe but falsodex only in butt. (I prefer the butt).

My nurse always made me wriggle my toes when she put the needle in before starting to inject to check she was well away from the sciatic nerve. No idea how this worked.

Thanks. I don't want sciatic nerve damage. She must have been able to see the nerve when you wiggled your toes. Blessings Hannah

Hello. I have had sciatic pain but not from Faslodex injection. The first week was the screaming kind of pain. The second week was more bearable, pain was off and on. It went away after 4 weeks. I took Ibruprofen the first few days but it didn’t help much. I then took Celebrex for 6 days which helped the most.

Thanks. I hope you don't have an on-going problem with sciatic nerve problems. Blessings, Hannah

No sciatica pain here. I have a padded butt, it helps. I don't know how you thin ladies do it.

Thanks!!!! I hope you are doing good. My cat scan came back stable - no changes so I guess I won't need to add faslodex this time. I see doc. Wed. I got the report out of the patent portal. Blessings, Hannah

Hannah,

I find each nurse gives the shots differently. I now make sure of there buttock placement, that they warm them up and that I lean forward with no wait on each side as the shot is given.

Never heard of them in the stomach.

I have had the best results with a nurse who actually measures where the shots should go so they don't hit the sciatic nerve.

I walk after and massage the shot areas. If I'm sore I sit with a heating pad.

If you find a good nurse, try to request her. If not just kind of lead them where you have had good results.

I find certain areas cause less pain.

Great idea. I was able to get in my portal this morning and found no changes from previous scan so I won't have to make that decision yet. I am going to ride out femara/Ibrance as long as it's working. Blessings Hannah
