Hi everyone, my mum has received bone mets biopsy results and they have confirmed she is now ER negative (she was ER positive when she had breast cancer 4 years ago) so she will be having chemo. Can anyone tell me what the ongoing treatment might be if its not hormone treatment? Are there some other good alternatives out there? (still waiting for them to confirm about HER2 results) Thank you x

ER Negative
Hi Sammylou...How wonderful that your mom has you looking out for her! I don't really have an answer to your question, although i will note that my sister's cancer is "triple negative" and she's doing well almost 10 years from initial diagnosis / 5 years from metastatic diagnosis. One think her doc at Duke explored for her was some type of immunotherapy. She was not eligible due to some other trait in her cancer, but I it's possible that this might be an option for your mom. My (admittedly vague) understanding was that this immunotherapy treatment was in trial, so if your mom is not already working with "comprehensive cancer center" (I believe the NCI website has a list), this might be a great time to get a second (or third...) opinion.
best wishes to you both...Lynn
