New To Group / First CT

I am new to the group and wanted to introduce myself. I am 56 years old and diagnosed with Breast Cancer with several bone metastasis in October 2018. I was put on Letrozole, Ibrance 125, and have a monthly Xgeva injection. So far I am tolerating the medication and had my first CT scan this morning. I know that there isn’t a cure, but I’m hopeful that the treatment will keep my disease in check.

I look forward to learning from and sharing my experiences with all of you.

Hoping you will get good results. I’m in the same boat with ya, diagnosed mid November and will have my first follow up in April.

Thank you! I was feeling pretty good until today! Maybe it is just my anxiety getting to me! Are you similar to me? DeNovo? Did you see much improvement after your first scan?

I started Ibrance and letrozole in 2016 and it is still working. One time I had to cut the Ibrance from 125 mg to 100 mg because of my white count . I have a deep faith in God and try to keep pushing forward and you can do the same. We all help each other on this site You are right. We want be cured but who knows what medicine they will come up next that will put us all in remission forever! Would that not be great!!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is very encouraging. I too have a strong faith that helps me stay in peace. I am hoping all is going well from a scan standpoint and I am able to continue the same treatment. I have a lot better pain free mobility than I did three months ago and it appears as though the tumor in my breast is improved as well.

Thank you all for welcoming me and your kind words and prayers. My blood pressure was a bit off the charts this afternoon and I really thought I was calm! I am incredibly grateful that it is all good news! I hope by sharing , this is encouraging for those of you who will be getting your first scan soon. I feel incredibly fortunate to be tolerating the treatment, the tumor in my breast is significantly reduced, bone mets appear to be healing and no further progression. I will count today as a win and pray that I am able to continue this treatment journey for a very long time.

So what are you taking? I am so happy for you that the scan actually shows some improvement. Wow!

Hi Autumn56,

I take Letrozole, Ibrance 125, and get a monthly Xgeva shot.

LOL! I thought I had really high blood pressure and couldn’t figure out why no one seemed to care. My oncologist said they are used to seeing really high blood pressure. After I fell into my treatment routine it went back to normal — until today!!

Hello and congrats on your first scan results! We are quite similar ... I am 55 , and like you , de novo , with bone mets ( to two areas of the pelvis) and have been on the ibrance / Letrozole combo for 15 cycles and so far tolerating it well and my bone mets too had healed over at my last scan which showed no evidence of active disease . I had a right mastectomy / axillary clearance and reconstruction in November 2017 and a reduction on my non -affected side in November 2018 . I haven’t been put on xgeva yet but my onc is keeping options open , dependant on the next scan results , early April . Stay positive and live well x

I was diagnosed Jan 2016 and I’m on the same drugs as you. I had a complete response from the drugs and all my bone Mets appear to be healed. I hope you get good news at your scan, I’m sure you will!!

I was diagnosed de novo (first time cancer detected) metastatic breast cancer in my bones five years ago. There’s been much to learn about the disease and treatment. After my surgery to remove two spinal discs, I was prescribed an aromotase inhibitor, letrozole, and Herceptin infusions every three weeks. My tumors disappeared after four months and my PET scans have been clear. So there is plenty of hope for you.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! It is encouraging for me just beginning my journey and I’m sure for others as well.

Welcome to the group although that seems strange to say. This is an awesome group of supportive people. Don’t be afraid to ask questions as it helps when you realize you aren’t the only one feeling the way you are. Good luck with your scan.
