Hey ladies,

It’s been a really rough day. It seems I get worse news every time I go to my onc. Just to remind y’all. I was diagnosed stage 4 to the right lung in Dec at the same time I learned I had breast cancer. My breast tumors were er positive her2 negative. But we just learned a week ago that the lung tumors are er negative and her2 positive. So the 2 cycles of ibrance didn’t do anything for the 2 lung tumors. In fact there is now 7 places in the right lung and several places now in the left lung. There I starting the real chemo next week.

Any words of encourage would be greatly appreciated. Also anyone dealing with her2 positive with any info would be nice too.

I am thankful for this group. Y’all are all so wonderful.

Hugs to you all,

Stacy

Have you changed your diet? Eat lots of mushrooms. Capsoles of turkey tale, like 7 a day. Green juice daily. Clean water. No meat. It works!

I am doing taxol chemo and am surprised with the side effects. Thought I would be vomiting and nauseous but no. I get three good days and 3-4 achy days.

Losing hair will be the worst.

But hoping for a few years of remission. We will see.

Hi Stacy

Chemo is scary not matter which way you look at it. Take it one treatment at a time, looking too far ahead is overwhelming at times. You’ll get through it, look how many of us are here on this site!

Prayers to you 🙏🏻💕

Susie

Hi Stacy,

Receiving scan results can be so scary, but the good thing is now you know what is going on and your oncologist has a plan in place for you as you move forward. So I hope that it is of comfort to you knowing that there are other treatment options out there for you. Chemotherapy will attack those tumours, so please stay strong and positive!

Take care,

Sophie ❤

Stay strong and listen to your body. Your oncologists will keep you comfortable. I didn't have a lot of side effects of chemotherapy except hair loss. Wore my bald head proudly. This is a wonderful bunch of ladies, I a new here and I find a lot of information. Blessings to you.

Hi Stacy,

I'm so sorry to hear about your recent scan. It's a tough time when a treatment stops working. For me, the days following a bad scan are some of the darkest days I have faced.

Ibrance just stopped working for me (new nodules in my lungs), so I'm onto chemo, as well. It took me a few days to adjust to the reality of chemo. It has helped hearing from the wonderful and encouraging ladies on this site. Knowing that the side effects are not as bad as advertised and knowing that remission is possible gives me hope. I hope you feel the same way.

Ibrance did get rid of the liver tumor, but did nothing for the none mets. On the following scan, the bone mets had spread(sacrum, lower spine, pelvic area).

So I was taken off of Ibrance to my despair, and started on chemo.

I was upset and scared to go back to chemo but turned out well. Five months now on Eribulin and doing well. Bone mets are much smaller and no new ones. So lost hair, brows and lashes, but caps and a little makeup take care of that!

Think positive. Sometimes the oral stuff just doesn't work. Chemo will attack your tumors.

I hope the best for you.❤

Hi Stacy. I am sorry to hear you are feeling upset. It is normal to feel this way. Stay focused on that the doctors are able to change your meds to try something else which will hopefully be even more effective. I too had to have meds changed after seeing progression and felt sad and upset initially. Now I am on something new waiting to see how it works for me. It is disappointing when a med stops working, but I am hopeful that my new one will be even more effective and we will pray your new meds work better for you then your former ones. Stay strong!

A couple of thoughts based on previous internet reading of PubMed site: Your cancer may respond better to chemo than those who are er/pr+. There are specific drugs that have worked well for HER2+ that have significantly improved overall survivability and a lot of new research in that area. I know someone who is her2 positive, had 4 spots in the liver, and is in remission now after diagnosed MBC 8 years ago.

Hi Staysha!

I’m HER2 + with bone mets...I take Perjeta and Herceptin IV....If that’s what u end up with it typically lasts 2-5 years...I know someone who’s is at my center at 4 years with it! It’s a targeted therapy so no stomach issues or hair loss or any real side effects. If would last 10 years I’d be very happy...😀

I will be on Herceptin and perfects after I have 6 cycles of that mixed with taxaterre. So maybe my hair will grow back. Thanks for the positive reply. I needed to hear something good.

Yes! Your hair will grow back! Some people notice thinning but nothing major...😀

I’m so sorry to hear things have progressed. Your chemo may be the right course for you. It is so difficult to get the right treatment as each of us seems to have something a little different. Keep the faith and I will be thinking of you during your chemo.
