Sun

Does anyone have any problems with getting a little sun while on Faslodex or Ibrance? I mean I will wear sun screen but I’m dark olive skin. I never burn but I will wear sun screen which I never had to do. We are going on vacation in June and I would like to get some sun 🌞.Thanks

Clair, no matter how easily you tan, chemo burns you faster and it's like a chemical burn. I'm speaking from experience. I can't reach my left foot and forgot to have my husband put sun block on it. I wish you could see the pictures. They were afraid I was going to get a terrible infection. I couldn't put a shoe or even a flip flop on for 3 weeks. Make sure you put sun block everywhere. Even between your toes. Start out 45 nminutes in sun to see how you react. Chemo makes the sun react even faster. You will still get tan. Use at least 35, preferably 50. These are my Drs instructions.

I’m not on Chemo at this time, just Faslodex. But I will wear what I bought for sun. I bought it just put over bathing suit, it’s like a little sun dress with long sleeves you wear even in water. Protects from sun.

No was bringing wbc and Neutrophils to low. Waiting to get approved for Verzenio, however Lilly is harder for approval than the other drug companies. So I have to send taxes and wait for approval.

I am on both Ibrance and faslodex - still don’t burn very easily (skin is not olive coloring yet looks tan all the time)

Used 50 + sunscreen in Hawaii and didn’t even get red

Good luck - don’t let fear keep you indoors 😎

I’m Lebanese so I’m olive skin or always look tan. I tan easy and wear protective clothing you wear in water. I never wore sun screen because it messes up the water and oceans natural living fish, reefs.. I always worried about that kind of stuff, I’m a little strange.😁

Do you have any hair loss? Or thinning?

Not that I’ve noticed but my hair is on the thin side to begin with

Ladies, I ALWAYS sit under an umbrella and have for years. In addition, I use 70 sunscreens. None of us need any extra sun, with or without cancer.

The issue is that sunscreen has toxins too. Hawaii is banning many.

I thought they where banning because toxic to the barrier reefs? Not to humans. Just was reading that . But I don’t wear it anyway.

No issues. And I live in AZ for now. I try to get 20-30 min 3-5 times per week for vitamin d.

Yes, most are toxic, I understand!
