Hello ladies! I hope that you all has a fabulous coronation weekend like I did. I got coronation breakfast tickets to Pilgrim Museum where I volunteer. Had a few friends sleep over since it was a 6am start. They had the festivies up in the big movie screen and served a big English breakfast with clotted cream even!
Now that I just got a good 1st scan after 6 months on xeloda , Rick and I (with much trepidation) are going to visit our son next week who lives in Switzerland. First scan shows liver Mets still small and bladder neck thickening improved and not much ascites. Not sure how durable this response will be but seems to be working now. So despite very sore feet, and various aches and pains . I am going to see my son!
I don’t think things will get better than what we have right now and we have the dog sitter lined up for 3 weeks so the time is now…. Still any one on an effective dose of xeloda would be worried about all that walking with burning feet. Luckily my great oncologist had encouraged me to drop the dose by one pill per day just for one cycle. I will let you know how it all goes!

Love the photo! I got up at 2:00 am AZ time and watched because I am of British descent and I love this stuff..also my nephew is there traveling Europe by himself with his backpack staying in hostels - he sent me a photo from the Hyde Park giant screen at 4:30 am. Very cool.
That is wonderful Beth, enjoy Switzerland and spending time with your son. Sounds like you had a cool coronation celebration- weren't the horses amazing?
yes the horses were wonderful! My grandmother went to visit UK when I was little and brought back a toy replica of the golden carriage with all the horses attached. Very heavy metal and not really a play thing. but inspired many dreams…
What a great picture! I was supposed to be there this week for a wedding, but due to all the pain I’m in had to cancel, we lived there for six years in Ascot, on Watersplash Lane. The wedding was the little boy that lived next door. We lived there from 91-97. We were lucky enough that was the street they took to the races and every year right in front of our house they went by in the open carriages to the racecourse! My very rude husband on the last day would take off the day from work and sit at the end of our drive and wave his American flag at the queen! Lol, she always smiled at him. The only time we went to see the changing of the guard we to our surprise it was the Trouping of the color! Waited for hours to them all on the balcony and again they went right past us, what a day! Needless to say I’m not a fan of Camilla and I think he should have abdicated. I think about Diana, as she died on my Wedding Anniversary.
Have a great time with your son and happy for you that you are still able to travel. I was so looking forward to David’s wedding, but he promised to send a video. I went to his brothers in 2015 and it was great fun. In 2009 I flew to NYC for a day to meet both boys and had dinner and as they say in England they got me “pissed”. We had a wonderful time! They told their mom it was the best day in New York! Have a great time!
oh so sorry that you couldn’t go to the special wedding! But how nice that the boys from Ascot kept up with you… I bet it is because you are very special. Wonderful to live in other countries but then your heart is in 2 places… me too with NZ! So I understand..
I am with you on wishing Charles has abdicated because of horse face. Just think how joyous the country would have celebrated if William was getting crowned with those 3 adorable kiddos. The bells would have been really peeling then!
thanks Martitoosi- I’m visiting with MV Martha vineyard- a gal with MBC who left this page over the kerfluffle that you may remember. We met in real life 1 year ago and cycled together. She is meeting me for lunch and I will have an update but I believe she has had progression.. like me. She like Best Bird and others are missed over here. Did you want me to say hi from you?
Dear Bettybuckets Please give her my very good wishes and thank her for all her help to everyone. (I am off page just now because the dr slipped and made a little hole in my colon. It was touch and go but now it looks like I will recover, probably.)
oh Frances the things we endure! She looks so wonderful and why didn’t I take a pic! But next week, MV( Pam) is leaving for Europe one day after me! She still pokes her head on to see sometimes snd has kept up with Sandra which is nice for her. She is so nice. My only MBC friend and it is nice to meet in real life. We soaked up how we both just get it!
Oh, I am going to Martha's Vineyard in a couple of weeks, for spring planting and clean up. MV and I never overlapped there, and she is a biker and I have been afraid to do that; so stiff with anastrozole, and I have a broken knee that I got the week I started treatment and felt so good that I ran across Broadway and tripped. The break never healed, but I manage fine. It's just that they say if fall on it again, it will be curtains for that knee.
I have been thinking lately of missing people. Some left by choice. Fine. Others just disappeared and one worries. Kearnan, of course. Jersey Jazz. -- Wait, there she is, right below this answer! Never mind. Red Azalea never posted much anyway. I can text her....
Oh, JJ's doc perforated her colon! So dangerous. As if we don't have enough to deal with. That doc should be more careful. Slipped? He should slip...
hi Tammy Cross- MV would want to see you! She will be out on MBcherself I think she said July… but isn’t blking right now cuz same as you the anastrozole makes her woozy. Does she know you have a place out there snd have you met in real life? She would love to meet you. I am sure. She lives about an hour from me and it is sure nice to sit across and gab with someone who gets it! I would love to help you reconnect!
We never met. I think she must know, because I kept trying to meet up but it didn't work. I rented our house (I mean, I paid like a tenant to rent my own house that I share with my nieces) for the last two weeks of July. I hadn't gone in July for decades, since they took over and started renting it, but with my end in sight, I decided to 1) pull the cancer card and 2) throw some money at it. (I probably needed to do only one of those, or neither, since I am half owner, but...) Ask her when she will be up, okay? I am going up July 15 and leaving the 29th, something like that. My house is in West Tisbury. My real name is Chris something-very-Irish-oh.
Love this picture, just awesome! You always have such a positive outlook on life. I hope the Xeloda will work well for you for a long time and that you have a great visit with your son. I know there have been several posts on here over the years for things to do to help your feet, including lotions, etc. I hope you find relief so that you can enjoy your trip.
The UK is so fabulous. It seems like such a special place. It would be so nice if Sandra and the others would come back. They are so missed. Tell any of them you talk to that we love and miss them. Have a wonderful trip to Switzerland and make a lot of memories with your son. Take good care of your feet. Blessings, Hannah
thanks Hannah! I’m hoping to make it through trip… at the moment not hopeful that cutting down to 4x cape/day will help. I’m on day 3 of the drug holiday and still very sore.
