I haven't tried movantix, but occasionally use Miralax in the evening when oxycodone makes me feel constipated and that usually helps move things along by morning.

For severe constipation my oncologist recommended a "brown cow". That is simply one dose of Milk of Magnesia mixed with two - three dosing cups of prune juice. Warm gently in microwave, mix well and drink. You will get relief within a couple of hours. Hint: I wore depends when using this because relief can come on sudden.

If the constipation is not severe or just to keep regular, I have found daily Milk of Magnesia taken alone works great.

Currently, I have been drinking prune juice or eating Raisin Bran cereal. This has helped keep me regular.

Thanks Pat...I do eat Great Grains raisins, nuts, etc. but Raisin Bran sounds like a good change to try for something different.

I use Mirilax daily. I mix it in pear juice. Sometimes I just eat 4-5 prunes, along with Mirilax. Try to eat fruit daily. I take a colace at night just to keep it softer. Been working ok. Good luck, it's awful when it happens.

I'm thankful you mentioned pear juice. I love orange juice but some days it upsets my stomach. Prune juice is not so great early in the morn. I am now drinking pear juice and really like it. Thanks again...

Glad it's working for you. Supposedly pears work better than prune juice. So glad we have this forum to help each other out! Xoxox

Thanks...Mirilax has been mentioned more than once. I also was taking Collace as a softener but not enough. My onc said I could take up to twice what the directions say. I've gone to 3 a day and that seems to be working better so far.

Hello - yes, I have had to deal with that as well. I would tell you to make sure you are really looking at your diet. I would say to get 30-35g of fiber ever day - that will help you a lot. I would also recommend for you to try magnesium - there is a brand out there in health food stores called "Calm". You can mix it in your smoothies or even just mix it with water and drink. Good luck to you getting a handle on it - I went through a lot of misery before getting a decent handle on it.

Thank you so much...I will look in to that. My son was injured severely in a fall off a ladder and put on pain meds. His girlfriend is a nurse and I think she had him taking magnesium for the problem. I will check with them about it...thanks again...I had forgotten about his situation.

Senna tea usually helps me. If things do get bad, I start with liquid magnesium from Walgreens. Make sure it's cold before you drink it. If that doesn't work, there is a prescription called lactolose that never fails me. I do try to avoid it by drinking lots of water and eating fruit and fiber.

I used Miralax regularly at night to keep things moving. It worked great and didn't cause diarrhea.

I also tried to drink fruit smoothies everyday to help get more fiber in my diet.
