Mom was just changed from Ibrance to faslodex. Last scan showed a couple of very small but new spots in bones but it still hasn’t spread anywhere else. Anyone else have this happen? She’s discouraged of course but our team says this is “normal” to tweak and change meds. Thanks all!

Ibrance changed to Faslodex
After about 2 years I I was switched to faslodex from letrozole. Same thing, slight progression. I am doing well on faslodex and feel much better on it. The downside is that it is a once a month 2 uncomfortable shots a month. Good luck.
Thank you!
I have been on Ibrance and letrozole for two years now. Bone scan yesterday and results indicate slight progression in several areas. I see my onc on Friday. Not sure if I will be changing meds but I see some switch from Ibrance to Faslodex and some change from Letrozole to Faslodex. I will have to see what is decided for me. Wish I had a crystal ball!
It seems to be “normal” to have to change treatment protocols at times so don’t get discouraged!
I have been on Faslodex and Ibrance since November. My Ibrance has been lowered from 125 to 100. My oncologist (who I love) is considering just going to falsodex in a few months, based on how well I have responded. He feels I can always go back on if needed. I see it as a work in progress as everyone has different responses. Good Luck!
Ibrance and Faslodex are two different approaches. Faslodex is a hormone blocker, as is Letrozole. Ibrance is a cell cycle interrupter. Usually Ibrance is used in combination with a hormone blocker. I’ve not heard of Ibrance alone. However, any change in meds can result in a switchover period until the new med kicks in.
Kathyquilts, I should clarify that she was on Ibrance and letrozole. She was taken off of both and started on just Faslodex after her most recent scan showed some new albeit small lesions. All still in her bones only-so thankful for that.
Same as me. Enlarging lesion in the the right sacrum….bam change meds
I haven't had that experience but the first time my cancer spread it was to the bone and I was on Faslodex for 11 years. No side effects at all, except maybe a sore butt cheek if someone wasn't so great at giving the shot. I hope this works for her!!
What treatments are you taking now? Where u on falsodex only?
I was only on Faslodex for those 11 years. I am now on an oral chemo called Xeloda.
Yes 11 years ago was when it first metastatized and then it reared it’s ugly head again and is now in my liver. I hope you get 11 years plus many more!!!!
