Faslodex
I have been on Faslodex and Xgeva for over 2 years now. Only noticeable side effect was deterioration of about 5 fingernails at their tips. I take 1000 micrograms of Biotin daily and with Hansen nail strengthener painted on at times...it seems to keep them stronger.
Recently read in CURE magazine where people taking 2500 MCG of Biotin a day found it helped prevent hair loss with chemo. I use the brand Solray Biotin from the health food store.
I've been on Faslodex for 3.5 years now. I'm also on Arimidex and Xgeva. I would say that I do have hot flashes and joint pain. I don't know if those are just from the Faslodex or maybe the others. Other than that, I can not tell what is side effect and what is old age! The bottom line, is it is very easily tolerated for me.
Faslodex had been good to me for about 8 years! I was on Femara previously and have had fewer side effects with Faslodex. Plus it is given as two injections every 28 days rather than a daily pill that reminds me I have cancer, and I like that! When I first started on Faslodex, in the days before the larger two injection dose became FDA approved, I would need a nap the day of the injection and often the next day. But that passed after several months. I do take Effexor for hot flashes and Celebrex for bone pain. But I have found Faslodex very doable. And since it is given at the cancer center, I pay nothing for it. I've known several women who have also done well on Faslodex.
