After being cancer free for 4 years my lobular breast cancer metastasized to a vertebrae. Had 3 targeted doses of radiation last month and awaiting getting my ovaries out.

How blessed u were to be cancer free for 15 years! What was your course of therapy when your breast cancer spread to your spine? Also what natural methods have u been using?

Thank u for your time,

Lori

Received the results today from my first scan at MD Anderson after being on Xeloda. Definately not what I wanted to hear. More activity in the liver and tumor on hip bigger also spine, In lots of pain. Having a hard time walking. Going to do radiation to help with the pain, then change treatment and have to do more chemo, also another bone biopsy. Will stay in Houston until know more about what is to be done.

If this is repeating, sorry. It's like my computer sends on its own and I don't know if it actually does. My sister sees Dr. Bueno in Houston, good luck to you.....

My sister sees Dr. Bueno in Houston, she's a wonderful person and a very caring doctor. Now my sister is back in Amarillo and sees another dr. She is on Xeloda and Zometa. She's having to put off treatments as her WBC is too low. After second treatment her liver had shrunk so that means tumors are shrinking. Anxious for scan in February.

Hi, Lori! I was diagnosed with invasive ductal cancer in 2000, followed by double mastectomy. No evidence of cancer in any of the surrounding tissue or in 3 sentinel nodes. I had no follow-up therapy after surgery.

When the same cancer reappeared in an armpit node this past November, I was in total shock. It had spread to spine and pelvic bone. I received 10 rounds of radiation and have been treated with a combination of Ibrance and Letrozole ever since (along with monthly shot of Xgeva (which was just changed to a 3-month cycle). Last PET scan, on August 30, showed NED.

I attended an MBC Conference here in Seattle on Saturday where a naturopath was one of the featured speakers. For those with bone mets, she highly recommended a combination of Vitamin C and Calcium, and very strongly recommended curcumin for ALL MBC patients.

God bless you on this journey, Lori. This group of "sister warriors" provides so much comfort and hope! XXOO Linda

Hi Lori! I was no evidence of disease for about 5 years when it came back on my vertebrae and other bones. I was on Ibrance and Faslodex for about 6 months and then it showed up on a scan on liver and lymph node leading to liver, but bone mets resolved. Now I'm on a course of Taxol and just started immunotherapy, Keytruda. Next scans are in a month. I'm sorry for your recurrence and upcoming surgery.

Complimentary methods I use are Reiki, healing touch, acupuncture, gentle chiropractic, exercise, yoga, meditation and as much positive thinking as I can muster. Hope that helps.

:-)

Take care.

Lynn

Hi lynn, was wondering how you were doing doing on immunotherapy. Is it considered 2nd line treatment? Don't know much about it, but love the idea of our own body attacking the beast where it hurts.
