Urinary catheter, condom catheter

Anyone using an external urinary catheter for incontinence. If so, do you get your penis erect, or semi erect, when you put it on?

Erection is a matter of chance , if the berthelon glands are touched

May be I forgot

You’re not meant to have an erection at all when putting on an external catheter. The sheath should be the correct size to be put on when the penis is flaccid.

If you want any more info or advice, feel free to message me.

You are quite correct, lovenothate - I had a condom catheter fitted by a Norse specialist on Thursday and in no way must you have an erection when putting it on otherwise it will fall off when the penis goes soft.

I disagree, a good quality silicone sheath will expand to accommodate an erection and then contract when the penis softens. I have never had a sheath fall off after an erection. The reason some say you should fit the sheath when erect is that there is more smooth skin for the adhesive to stick to.

A good quality silicone sheath comes in different sizes and if you are a grower there can be a considerable difference in circumference between erect and flaccid. They do not make one size fits all. Yes, there is a small expandability in the product but not enough to accommodate circumferences say from 24ml to 40ml in one product. Also I have smooth skin soft or hard as I am circumsized. There is no way that I would want one that would fit me soft and also erect it would be far too tight. By the way if you know so much why did you ask the question in the first place?

Because there seems to be a difference of opinion between the manufacturers (the German firm recommends an erection if possible) and some medical advice centres.

Interesting. I am in the UK and rely on info from UK medical staff who source the best product in their opinion. The one I wear is a perfect fit for my flaccid penis as fitted by the nurse.

The nurse measured me at 36mm although when I'm totally flaccid I measure 32mm. I wear a 36mm Jade or 35mm Conveen and put them on when I'm semi erect and both are comfortable when I'm fully erect. Neither have ever fallen off. Try Googling urinary sheath and erection and you'll see what I mean.

Used to try the condom carbs but have a retracted penis so they would always fall off. Bioderm makes a very good external device but cost is a concern. Great for retracted men that can’t use a condom cath. There is an exceptional double lumen catheter on the market now that protects the mucosa and is silicone. They work amazing. There is also another one that will be out soon called lotus catheter that not only allows the bladder to drain all the way but also eliminates mucosa damage. Finally some folks actually cared about the patient and made safer internal Cath’s.

The only other thing they should do is make them about or 6 inches longer for men. If you get an erection that is just annoying that they are just barely long enough to fold over the glans. Guess they forgot people do still make love.
