need medication for restless leg
No easy answer to that one tremors....have you been to see your gp...and have you tried any medication. Have a look around the site to see all the different treatments people here have tried! !!!!!
my gp gave me quinine, it has helped me most of the time as long as i took it about an hour before bed, but for the last few weeks the quinine has not helped, in fact my jumping legs have got worse to the point i am awake most of the night, i just get a few naps during the day on the sofa, its really driving me nuts now.
my gp dont seem interested just said there is nothing else he can suggest.
hi
sorry to see you had to come find us on here sadly there's no cure for RLS the meds that is about for us are a hit miss what works for one doesn't always work for another ,
Quinine doesn't help RLS unless you have Malaria ,,,
here's a site you may find helpful you'll find lot of info you might want to pass onto your dr
maybe should look into changing dr's if the one you have shows no interest in RLS try copying some info for him to read
good luck with your dr hope he listens to you
Hi Tremors, My RLS is intermittent and I can have years without it but I recently have a nasty bout and this time I found a remedy from googled information. I checked with doc and no probs taking it for me. It's Magnesium Phosphate (Mag Phos), which I bought from the local health food shop. It worked for me instantly and I sometimes take it with prescribed cocodamol. Consult your gp of course, though they won't prescribe a homeopathic remedy. You could see a homeopath. More serious sufferers on this site can help you with suggested meds (GP) and their experiences. Good luck, keep us posted.

definitely as Gypsy said, Quinine is not for RLS. It never has been. It was always supposed to used for leg cramps and then people got the idea for RLS somehow. We all know RLS is not leg cramps, and Quinine has very strong warnings on the US "only to be used for malaria", not for leg cramps any more at all. And, Quinine was never for RLS, even though many, many people have tried it. Big warnings on heart issues, so this really needs to be paid attention to. The link that Gypsy put up ghas the best treatment page on the web, with also a "List of foods and Drugs to avoid" all on one page, so if anyone has trouble navigating webs sites, it is the easiest one.
The uk still uses quinine for leg cramps I'm currently on it every night to prevent my left carf muscle from going like rock hard, doesn't work for rls tho just gotta find doctors who will give meds they will help calm down the symptoms of rls which is hard to find decent doctors nowadays in the uk
There are so many prescription meds they have today for RLS. Surely your dr. can prescribe one. Maybe you should see a neurologist who specializes in RLS. It is all trial and error with the meds. I have had RLS for over 30 years and am still trying new things.
