Struggling coming off ropinerole

First thank you for all the replies to my earlier posts, before my second hip replacement. 4 weeks post surgery I am decreasing ropinerole slowly, just dropped from 0.75mg to 0.5mg after 2 weeks on 0.75mg.

But struggling with symptoms starting early afternoon and getting worse as the evening progressed until about an hour and a Half after taking the ropinerole at 8.30pm. Then this morning it all started again at 3.30am.

I'm also on gabapentin 600mg at 5pm and again at 9pm which I was on before the ropinerole was added in.

I have been taking 60mg codeine for post surgery painbut it doesn't help the rls.

Any ideas?

Is it better after taking codeine? If so since iit only lasts 3 to 4 hours so you might want to take it more often.

It hasn't helped since surgery though did when I was first on codeine along with gabapentin before ropinerole. I might try taking 30mg 4houly rather than 60mg 6hrly.

The closer you are to getting off ropinirole, the worse the symptoms get. I would suggest going back up to .75 and letting your symptoms settle and then try reducing by half of a .25 pill. I doubt if taking 30 mg of codeine will help if 60 mg didn't. Can you get your doctor to prescribe more so you could take a larger dose? Emphasize to him that it would only be temporarily until you are off ropinirole for a few weeks and the gabapentin starts to kick in as it doesn't help much while you are on ropinirole.

Trying to think of anything else that might be unhelpful and have been taking magragol for constipation, one of the less common side effects is muscle twitching so wondering if this is not helping my rls??

I have it as safe for RLS.

Hi dulciemary, that sounds unpleasant, I'm not taking as much as you but coming of ropinarol, I was taking 2 x 0.88mg at night, got it down to 1x 0.88mg and 1x 300mg gabapentin, can't seem to shift down the rop any further for now, I seem to be in the right track then 2 weeks before my period it gets so back again, my point apparently it a bit of a slog getting of the pramipexole so don't lose faith, the people on here are really helpful

If you are having trouble reducing you can get an inexpensive jewelry scale on Amazon ($11 in the US) that measures down to .01 gram and shave off a bit of the tablet and measure it. Then reduce by that amount every 2 weeks.
