I have ordered Kratom which is legal where I live. I was advised on this site to buy red vein and that is what I ordered. My new doctor said that there was not enough research on its effectiveness on RLS but was not adverse to trying it. My question is how and when should I use it to get the maximum benefit? I am in the process of coming off Ropinirole and was hoping this may help.

The recommended starting dose of kratom is 2.4 grams. It takes effect 5 to 10 minutes and lasts 2 to 5 hours so use it when you need it. At low doses, kratom acts as a stimulant, making users feel more energetic per Mayo Clinic. In higher doses, kratom is said to have opioid-like effects but is not an opioid, such as pain reduction, reduced anxiety, relaxation, and sedation.

Thank you my friend, I can always count on you! He is starting me on gabapentin 300mg and increasing the dosage by 300 mg every seven days. Things are moving forward but at a reasonable pace which I am good with. He told me this would take time which thanks to you and others I already knew. I will keep everyone updated as we go along. Thanks again! I would not have known anything had it not been for you and the others !

I'm not sure about the medication part, but kratom in general helped my rls.I use a teaspoon at a time in warm/hot water.

The higher the Mitragynine % the more energy.

That's easier to remember than white for flight, red for bed, and green for in-between.😁

The darker red color usually is less Mitragynine and better for bedtime.

I can second that kratom works quite fast, but with me it often took some 20-30min to start working. 5-10min is rather optimistic. Still, I found you can take your dose at the first serious signs of RLS symptoms. For some that is earlier in the day, for others symptoms do not start until at/after bedtime.

I started out with a quarter teaspoon. If that is not enough, you will find out quickly enough. If not enough, you simply take another quarter teaspoon after 30-45min. I followed this procedure initially to find my lowest effective dose. As I still take kratom, but only occasionally, a quarter to half a teaspoon still works well for me.

Be vigilant that if you continue to take kratom and on an about daily basis, it is imperative to rotate between strains to try to avoind tolerance. I mainly rotate between red and green strains.

it maybe will help of course but be careful not to get addicted. Dr. B advises against using it… my husband got addicted to it and even though it’s not an opiod it works on the opiod receptors. It’s a drag if you end up taking it all day long unfortunately…

People who are addicted report using dozens of (or more) grams per day, so don't get too afraid of using kratom at reasonable dosage amounts. A level teaspoon is about 2 grams.

I have PLMD and I only use it for "breakthrough" symptoms which is when my regular meds don't get the job done. I've read some stories about folks getting addicted. Somewhere I read that the Red Bali strain works and is not energizing. I've found this to be true. The recommended dose on the package is 2.4 g. Apparently the mitrgynine content is 1.222%. In any case it seems to work.
