Kates 48 hour race…

It’s done and I am totally and utterly shattered but happy as I did try very hard and didn’t give up which I thought I might do.

Thank you for all the support you have given and some money has been pledged to RLS-UK !!

If anyone didn’t want to donate any before , it is never too late snd I’m sure RLS-UK will be very happy to receive even the smallest amount…

Now for the figures … I walked 104+ miles in the 48 hours , which I was pleased with … (I was actually 1st and last in my age category , 65-69 , BUT being the only one in this age category that wasn’t hard !hahahaha! To put it in perspective, there was one amazing 79 year old lady Edda Bauer who walked 125 miles! She is the world record holder for her age group and I am not anywhere near her league. The winning lady ran about 220 miles and the winning man ran about 240 miles! Just staggering!

Anyway I turned up and had a fun (?!?😂) time. The winner of my ‘guess Kate’s distance sweepstake’ is RLS LEARNER who guessed 101 miles ! So congratulations ! And thank you very much for donating and joining in..

BIG LOVE to all us RLS folks and may we all get good relief from the mean torture.

Kate xx

That is absolutely fantastic kakally!!!I need to transfer the funds. Do I just send the donation to RLS UK?

Hi Thanks Joolsg! Yes please . I thought/hoped that would be easiest. It was a great weekend and if course I have been made to ‘pay’ for it with one of the worst night’s constant RLS everrrrr! 😳. Exercise even excess stuff that I occasionally do doesn’t make the RLS worse or better. But this time it was horrendous. I’m thinking maybe my body is telling me to keep to the slight less extreme distances 😂😂. 1 day on from the end of the race and I’m sort of back to normal…phew!!. I hope all is well with you xx

That's a heavy price to pay. You're so right though. Heavy exercise brings on increased RLS. I hope it settles. All well on the RLS front for me. Buprenorphine is still giving me 24/7 cover.

Just have to sort the MS now. The MS fatigue is hitting me bigtime. Like walking through treacle.

I'm due to start a new chemo type therapy- Cladribine, but it reduces lymphocytes drastically and triggers shingles. I therefore need a vaccine. The usual NHS nonsense. No joined up care. GP won't give it unlesss neurologist agrees.

I need 2 Shingrix doses, 2 months apart and then I can start the new MS drug.

Rest now and let those legs recover. Hope the RLS settles and you get some sleep.

I’m glad there is a new drug.. a new choice for you with your MS. Various friends of mine have had the shingles vax gif different immunosuppression disorders, with minimal side effects. . I hope you are the same and that the Cladribine is pretty magic for you 🤞👍🥰

If a few people gave up a little treat like a take away coffee or a bought sandwich and donated to RLS-UK or another charity in support of Kakally's run/walk that would be really awesome.💛🧡❤️💚💙💜

Thank you very much pennygates and you were very close with your guess of 99 miles! I just had a last burst of energy (well sort of energy 😵‍💫) and pulled the total over the hundred mark to 104+), but thank you so much for your support and for taking part and so generously contributing to RLS-UK… ! 🤗

I completed 104+ miles in the 48 hours and your guess of 101 was the closest! Congratulations ! And so you get to walk away with the fabulous prize of online hugs from me and the joy of knowing you were very close and you have been very generous donating to your favourite charity. My partner thought our dog, Arch Stanton, deserved the medal for putting up with me and all my RLS behaviour 😂.

I agree ❤️🐶❤️

Well done! 👏👏 So sorry to hear you’re suffering even more as a result of such an amazing feat and hope the dreaded RLS subsides soon. I don’t buy takeaway coffee or sandwiches but have sent a donation anyway to RLS UK as suggested by Kaarina!
