still fighting for buprenorphine to be reinstated. I'm starting to lose battle with myself.

Have not had any sleep again......my leg so painful and jerking non stop.....took 5mgs Targin that I had in cupboard, didn't even calm it down....this is the third night now I have had less than 2 hours sleep......nauseated and beaten. I have a box of Buprenorphine in pantry , the dr has stopped me on these because he doesn't want me on opioids but has offered nothing in replacement. I think I will find another dr that will prescribe these and go back on them because I think they were helping a little, letting me sleep a few hours at least.........I'm just about done with this. I don't want to be on opiods either, but if that is what has to be done to have a life and want to live I better sort it out.

Severe RLS needs treatment. Whether it's pregabalin, gabapentin or opioids, we are dependent on our meds. We aren't 'addicted', but we need them to function. There is a huge stigma around opioids for patients and doctors. But low dose opioids are highly effective and often the only drug that works. Particularly if patients have been on Dopamine Agonists like Ropinirole for years No one can function without sleep. Definitely find a new doctor who will treat you holistically and prescribe iron infusions if needed and Buprenorphine.

I wish doctors would realise how serious and life changing this disease is.

sorry to hear that you are suffering so much, definitely need a more understanding dr, maybe a pain specialist?

My pain dr said I have to have some quality of life and i now repeat this when needed!!

For time being do you have any codeine or OxyContin to help you sleep?

Best wishes

Don't let doctors who have succumbed to anti-opioid propaganda make you do the suffering. These are LOW-DOSE opioid therapies, not to be compared with dosages that sometimes prove problematic when prescribed at higher dosage levels.

I have been on a low-dose (10 mg/day) methadone therapy for 5 years and couldn't be happier with it. I sleep 8 hours every night. Don't beat yourself up if you go on a bupe therapy. You deserve to be able to get refreshing sleep - a doctor who prevents you from achieving that is not your friend.

I just read your post to my physician husband and his response to your doctor stopping buprenorphine and offering no replacement was, "That's evil."

Opiods are a valid treatment for Refractive RLS. If you have been on dopaminergics your dopamine receptors have been damaged. You are suffering and deserve care. I pray that you'll be successful in finding a physician who will BE a physician and address your severe RLS.

I see you are in Australia like me.Yes, they are paranoid about opiates here.

Unfortunately we can't demand iron infusions or opiates from our doctor ! And in Victoria there is a real time register to track prescriptions of all drugs of potential abuse.

Then changing doctors is considered doctor shopping.

It's so cruel to anyone in genuine pain. ! I hope you find relief.

so sorry you are having such a nightmare with RLS. I know exactly how it is. I found Tramadol 50mgs and Gabapentin 300mgs works for me. Try Fennel tablets/liquid, someone suggested here. There is an answer, it’s just experimentation and an open minded doctor! Try giving him/her the Mayo algorithm. Good luck .
