PERIODIC LIMB MOVEMENT DISORDER

I have not shared for a while. I would like to report that I have been taking the iron supplement every other day with orange juice. Also am taking 300 Gabapentin. I did a sleep study last year and it showed that the PLMD is not disturbing my sleep as it is now at a moderate amount. The sleep study also showed that I have mild sleep apnea. This was a surprise for me. A CPAP machine did not work for me at all. I am now using a device, which is fairly new (and the insurance company is not paying for it!) which is called exciteOSA. I use it every morning for 20 minutes. I am not sure whether it is making any difference in my sleep. The sleep doc wants to do another sleep study. I did suffer a lot lately from depression and anxiety so that I had to take .5 mg Ativan in the afternoons to get through the day. I saw my regular doctor for yearly check-up and he had the great idea to put me on an antidepressant, namely Sertraline (formerly Zoloft). This has been a blessing and has lifted this black cloud from me. My sleep is still not good, but a little better in that I have here and there a night when I sleep through 5 hrs or so. So I am still doing all I can and not leaving no stone unturned. Being constantly sleep deprived is really emotionally and physically difficult.

For me personally I use balneum cream & it works for me but can't recommend it to you because it's not for everyone & it might be if you used it you might have negative reaction

300mg of gabapentin is a very low dose so I'm not surprised you're not getting complete relief. Is there a reason you're on such a low dose?

I’ve learned that the best treatment for PLMD is Bacoflen. Kolonpine works the best, but good luck finding a kind hearted Doctor who will treat you with it, as it also helps RLS, and allows you to sleep.
