Minoxidil

As most of you can relate to, I have given up so much in my life due to RLS. Every possible RLS trigger is in fact a trigger for me. I have given up HRT, SSRIs, statins, caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods (I used to put fresh jalapeno peppers on EVERYTHING), sugar, all processed foods, most carbs, and the list goes on. I basically stopped having fun.

Now for my question. I have a genetic issue with my hair. I've had very little of it my whole life and was so happy to find a miracle in using topical Minoxidil on my scalp for the past 10 years. I now have almost an average amount of hair! What an incredible thing for me! A couple of years ago, when I was going through the process of giving up all triggers, I did research on Minoxidil and saw no correlation between it and RLS. Lately I came across information stating that 28% of women and 74% of men using this experience RLS. Has anyone used topical Minoxidil and found it triggered their RLS?

It shouldn’t based on this article: dovepress.com/minoxidil-and.... But maybe stop for 4 days and see if RLS improves.

Thanks SalemLake. I haven’t completed reading the article yet but am glad to have some information. I agree with you, I plan on taking a little time off of it to see if RLS gets any less severe.

This is the only reference I can find on the subject. ehealthme.com/ds/minoxidil/... I looked at the article SalemLake mentioned but didn't see anything about RLS in it.

However I agree that the only real way to find out is to stop it for awhile to see if it affects your RLS. Do let us know.
