I have known for a long time that wine is a trigger for me. I decided to cut out sugar, not all carbs just sugar. The result is amazing. I still take 0.09 mirapexin (which hasn't worked on its own for years)I was adding Kratom, tramadol, codeine and still pacing the floor quite often. However now after cutting out sugar I have no symptoms whatsoever. I know it could be temporary but for the time being it's great. I buy diabetic products and chocolate with Stevia for the sweet rush. I actually look forward to going to bed after many years of dreading it. I hope everyone finds their trigger.

Sugar
Yes, too much sugar (alongside artificial sweeteners and too much caffeine) is a trigger for me. I've been pretty much symptom free so far this year- apart from a couple of nights ago after a bad afternoon when I had not one but two Twix bars and a slice of lemon cheesecake. I knew I would suffer, but sometimes sugary snacks seem like the only thing to do! 🤷♂️
Great to hear Memmy. Did your diet contain much sugar previously?
Strangely enough although I don't eat a lot of sugar normally, I occasionally binge. However I just had my blood tests done and my sugar was 102 and the glucose was almost at the limit. I have a couple of friends who are diabetic and they suffer from time to time with rls
There is a listing of foods called the Glycemic Index. It details how quickly foods become glucose in your bloodstream. The higher the number the quicker it becomes glucose. Some foods become glucose as fast as sugar (like white bread). More info here...
How long did you have to stay on the strict diet before you saw results?
I know I can eat one small sweet thing after dinner and I can get it to awaken (though it is not full blown RLS - more like it annoys me and I have to get up to relieve it).
I saw a company in Israel (can't remember the name) that was offering a DNA based result to indicate how you personally respond to high glycemic foods. They found that they aren't universal in effect. One person's rice is another's ice cream.
I've toyed with getting one of the constant blood sugar monitors that records to a smartphone and watch what different foods do in real time. That would be a good way to hack your own profile.
