Yes my second dose of COVID feeling horrid.

I’m debating if I should take antivirals , my RLS is totally under control with buprenorphine I would hate to destabilise that.

Anyone have experience with anti viral medication ..

I was put on paxlovid for 5 days the day after I tested positive. No RLS while taking Paxlovid or for the week after. Then I developed paxlovid rebound & tested positive again 2 weeks after first symptoms. I was really ill for a further 2 weeks & my RLS really played up. Paxlovid rebound seems to happen most to immuno compromised so you should be fine.I think my bad RLS during the rebound was because of the severity. You will probably have vaccine protection and it will be milder so odds are in your favour to take paxlovid.

Hope you feel better soon Shumbah.

And the advantage of paxlovid even if it does rebound is that may prevent long covid. And even President Biden had paxlovid rebound .

Sadly not in my case. But I'm on very strong immuno suppressant meds. For most others, it should help reduce severity of Covid & risk of Long Covid.

Wow I am so glad I asked.

I won’t start the antivirals ,how awful

How long did the rebound last and the rls ?

Bear in mind I'm on really strong MS immuno suppressant medicines that wipe out all my B cells so I have no immunity ( or very limited) to viral or bacterial infections. The covid vaccines don't give me any antibodies. It will be different for you as you're not immuno suppressed and vaccines will have given you antibodies. The rate of rebound on paxlovid is 30% & seems to happen most with people on immuno suppressants or those over 70.

I think for most people it makes them feel a lot better quite quickly.

I took it for 5 days and felt great. Less symptoms than a cold. Tested negative on day 8 and 9 so came out of isolation. 8 days later I felt ill and tested postitive again. By that time I'd infected my husband and daughter.

They were ill for 5 days. I was very, very ill for a further 2 weeks with secondary bacterial respiratory infection. I had to have IV antibodies in hospital.

My husband and daughter recovered quite quickly with no long term issues.

So, if I had a normal immune system, I'd take paxlovid as it makes the symptoms easier.

Its just awful , my husband is getting sick now.

I too have other health issues.

I have no first line of defence .

Been working with my doctors really trying to improve my various levels.

I developed rare lung condition when I was pregnant with my 5 th and final baby over 25 years ago. They told me to write letters to my children as there was nothing they could do. My lungs are really scared from gasping for air for 2 years I was in hospital and a doctor said try this a wrote a script for a compounded testosterone 3 percent .

It was 12 hr drive from where we lived in those days compounding was not in our country town.

Long story short used it in the hotel room.

I applied compound cream in the crease of my elbows and within minutes I could breathe properly for the first time in 2 years. I also have to be hospitable when in need prednisone It dangerously messes with ACTH levels in my brain.

I think a lot of us RLS sufferers have drawn a few short straws.

I am very grateful for the information.

A second dose of Covid suggests that you have a very weak immune system as the first dose of Covid should have triggered the production of antibodies which would protect you from catching it again. You can boost your immune system by cleaning up your diet (which is also causing your RLS) and taking vitamin D supplements (which may also reuce your RLS as its an anti inflammatory) and supplementing zinc which slow down the replication of viruses to give time for the production of antibodies. Bupenodrine only suppreses the symptoms of RLS not the cause.

Herd immunity has been totally disproved and this is incorrect. Covid will reinfect even if you have a strong immune system, have lots of antibodies and are fully vaccinated. The strains are constantly mutating.

I have several front line doctor friends ( young, fit and healthy) who have been infected 3 or 4 times. The only protection is a good FFp3 mask and good ventilation systems.

Masks have been proved to be inneffective unless someone is soughing, sneezing or even talking beacause so much virus is aerosol from breathing and hangs in the air instead of falling to the ground.

As most people wear ill fitting masks ( most under their noses) you're right. If everyone wore a well fitted FFP3, there would be no aerosol hanging around in the air. We know that won't happen so the only solution left is good hepa filter machines EVERYWHERE and the special lighting that kills the virus.

I must admit, I wonder why people wear their masks below their noses. and you are right there are a number of them. So stupid!

I'm so sorry to hear this Shumbah. Sadly, until Hepa Filters are installed in every shop, restaurant, classroom, office and hospital, Covid will continue to mutate and infect multiple times. We can't vaccine our way out as they don't stop transmission or infection.

New technology is needed, like the special spectrum lights that kill viruses. Or new T cell vaccines.

In the meantime, we just have to be cautious.

I wish you and your husband well and hope you both fully recover.
