I am on Methadone, gave up my .2.5mg afternoon pill and just take my .5mg at night which doesn't work to well, legs still jump. I want to know if I can take fast acting THC that would work to get me thru the day?

my experience with cannabis and rls is mixed. Sometimes it seems to work other times not. It made me drowsy during the day so I discontinued it. Everyone’s different and it may work for you. My advice is to stay clear of it and let your doctor treat it.

I hope you don’t mind me asking you something without helping your problem. I’m in the U.K. and we cannot get methadone prescribed at all from our doctors. Can you tell me if it’s your office doctor (we call them GPs) or is it your hospital consultant who has to give you the prescription? I wish you well in your RLS travels x

In the US, it's normal for one's PCP (Personal Care Physician) to refer the patient to a specialist in order to secure a script for opioids. But it's quite difficult to find a specialist willing to prescribe opioids for RLS because of the opioid scare here, and the lack of training regarding RLS. Best of luck; you'll need it.

thank you for that. It is a ridiculous illogical nightmare in the U.K. I know that there is a massive drug overdose problem with fentanyl and opioids and it is difficult to police the people who want/need them. Unfortunately as RLS is such a stupid annoying condition that few docs know anything about, they often think you are a pathetic drug seeker . Anyway I am very determined to try to get docs educated better and to improve the ‘lot’ of RLS sufferers. Thank you and good luck to you too xx.

p.s. ( I was a PCP and dermatologist for 30+ years and would never have humiliated or dismissed patients in a way that I and many others are)

I don't think you're taking enough methadone. For 4 years I've been taking 10 mg daily: 5 mg 3 to 4 hours before sleeping, and 5 mg just before sleeping. That regimen has been working very well for me.

The constipation was so bad I had to cut the Methadone back.

My methadone prescriber will also prescribe products to remedy that situation. Or don't they work for you? Just hoping to help. Wishing you the best of luck.

Personally, Methadone started working consistently at 5mg in combination with 150mg of Pregabalin (down from the 300mg dose I was taking before I started Methadone). I tried stopping Pregabalin gradually, but Methadone alone did not cut it for me.

I take Methadone at 6pm under the advice of my sleep specialist since it works for 24 hours. Pregabalin I take closer to bed time, at 8pm.

I'd say I'm now 95% of my RLS symptoms are gone with very little side effects since both meds are at a very low dose.

gosh! How fantastic! I am determined to get hold of methadone (low dose). It would be so brilliant to find something that works pretty well and doesn’t give the concern if bad side effects or, even worse, augmentation ! Thanks and all the best to you.

Hi. From all the reading I have done on here it seems that you will have a very tough time getting methadone in the UK. But, Joolsg and others have been able to get buprenorphine and they are very happy with the results. ALL the opioids and drugs have side effects, as you know. It seems that combining drugs can help.

If you are desperate, order some red vein kratom powder (as tea from the netherlands). Joolsg just posted the link, too. It is opioid-like and stops rls within minutes. It's a great back-up or help when you need it. I am using it every night and find it easier to manage than an opioid. Although it is not ideal for long term. Best of luck!

I'm in agreement with TeddiJ. Bupe and kratom have helped many here.

thank you very much for that. Buprenorphine hasn’t helped much and even low dose makes me tired and lethargic. I will look into Kratom but I have a plan for methadone and will not give up yet. It makes no sense that a genuine drug cannot be used for a suitable clinical problem.🤪🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Best wishes and keep well 😬

I felt that way on methadone, too, and would fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Intense sweating, itching, terrible constipation, and possible memory problems rounded out the fun. I felt my personality and energy come back once I was off of it, although then I had to deal with the nightly rls. I had always believed I could go back to natural solutions but so far that is not true.

I do understand why you want to try it and I really wanted it at one time, too. We have to deal with side effects from anything we are taking, sadly.

thank you very much. I know the side effects may well be bad. But I guess I have to just see whether they might be ‘my magic…’. If I ever get them, I’ll let you know 🤪😱🤣🤞🤞🤞

Yes, I get it! We are all different, as we always say. Most people are happy to deal with the side effects to get relief from our particular version of hell. Good luck!

If you can get methadone in the UK, you're a heck of a planner. Good luck in your endeavor.

I know… but I do just have to give them a go… 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Hi. You could take red vein kratom powder or capsules during the day and that would knock it out very quickly. Some people say smoking THC stops their rls. I've tried various thc gummies and oil and it never stopped the rls. Plus you have the issue of being high and eating too much, etc.

before taking any medications, you should always consult with your doctor. Especially if you are trying to quit drugs, then you definitely need to ask your doctor how taking THC will affect your treatment. I once searched the Internet for the purerawz.co/ and accidentally told my doctor about it. Then the doctor told me that if I start taking these pills, then I may have even bigger health problems, because my health condition does not allow me to use these pills. And if I didn't know about it, I could have hurt myself. That's why it's always important to consult a doctor.I hope you will feel better.
