I'm on 50 - 100mg of tramadol a day and slowly getting augmentation. Started with 50mg and now I alternate nights at 100mg. I'm reluctant to go to 100mg everyday yet but most nights 50mg doesn't work great. My Dr has suggested I try a THC 10mg/CBD 10mg medication and stopping Tramadol, so I will give it a go. What experience do people have with THC/CBD drops for RLS? Do I just go straight from one to the other? THANKS in advance for any replies. I won't take them together but wondered if I should try a few days drug free before starting THC/CBD. I know I'll have some withdrawal as I've come off tramadol a few times over last 3 years. It's not fun and I won't get much sleep 😬

Advice sought on switching from Tramadol to THC/CBD
You need to slowly wean off the tramadol. And taking the two together can cause central nervous system depression. Hopefully someone on the forum can tell you more about taking them together. Your doctor may not be much help if s/he thinks you can just stop tramadol cold turkey.
I take 200 mgs of tramadol every night and also smoke cannabis every night and have been doing so for at least a decade. If you want off the tramadol ask your doctor if you can combine the two while you do so -- the cannabis will ease your withdrawal. Also, in my experience, 10 mgs of THC is too low. But unless you are used to the effects, it; s a good place to start. Don't be surprised if you need to titrate up. If that is the case, don't go up too fast. Wait until you are used to one level before you increase.
From what I know you would need to be very careful combining the 2 because both can potentially depress the CNS. I would gradually lower the dose of Tramidol and slowly add the cannabis until you can stop the Tramidol. Cannabis uses a different pathway ie the serotonin so it makes it good if you are trying to stop the Tramidol which is on the dopamine pathway.. I do use THC/CBD oil for the relief of RLS and it works especially helping with sleep. I have found the CBD is not strong enough and in order to get results you may need to gradually titrate the THC/CBD oil until it works for you. Low doses may not have any effect. I also find dry herb vaping the Indica purple flowers which my doctor prescribes an instant help. Take time to find what works for you.
"Only one study examined potential adverse effects from combined cannabis and tramadol, which found no severe complications outside of issues with calcium reabsorption.
However, the danger in the reckless consumption of tramadol and weed lies in the depression of the central nervous system (CNS). Opioids are a class of CNS depressants, and some varieties of cannabis have depressant effects.
Because both cannabis and tramadol impair cognition and memory, one may underestimate the amount of tramadol in their system and take too much. It’s impossible to overdose on cannabis, but it’s entirely possible to overdose on tramadol. CNS depression can lead to decreased heart rate, decreased breathing, and loss of consciousness, potentially resulting in coma or death.
Even though the research is scarce, the pain-relieving properties of medical marijuana make it an attractive alternative to higher doses of tramadol when the drugs are taken in tandem. If you’re looking to add cannabis to your tramadol regimen, be conscious of planning out dosing and gradually adjusting the intake of each drug. Go slowly, observe the effects and always consult with a physician before making changes.
Cannabis is not that effective for RLS. You’ll only get relief for an hour or two. On top of that you’ll quickly build tolerance and you will need to take more cannabis to get the same relief. Also, in order to get RLS relief from cannabis you’ll need to inhale it and that can’t be good for your lungs especially if you smoke it. You probably should seek professional help getting off Tramadol. It’s not an easy drug to get off of. In summary I’d avoid cannabis
Good luck!!
I've been taking Rick Simpson Oil (RSO), high THC concentrate (78% at least) for over 5 years. It is a life saver. Just a bit, like a rice sized amount on peanut butter, maybe 2 hours before bed, has kept me symptom free. CBD and any Sativas do not work for me. I've tried the standard pharmaceuticals, but the augmentation was always terrible.
