Use of Magnesium for RLS?

I realize that Magnesium has numerous benefits, including perhaps with RLS and, of course, sleep. I'm also a chronic headacher so I take Magnesium for that. However, is there any guidelines for amount of Magnesium for RLS relief?

It depends on which form of mg you take.Generally the "ates" are better.

I take 100mg of magnesium citrate in the early evening. It definitely helps with sleep.

However, there is great debate about the effectiveness of the various forms of magnesium, so really, you have to try them out to see which works for you personally.

Just be aware that mg is a laxative, so start with small doses.

It also interferes with some medications, especially Gabapentin- so keep it 3 hours away.

Good luck.

The tablets don’t work for my rsl only my migraines. I find the magnesium spray to be wonderful when it’s playing up. About 10 sprays all over my arms and legs and it’s usually gone in about 15 minutes. You can get it from H&B. You can buy Better You. There are various ones for sleep and joint pain but I find the original the strongest. Or you can buy their own brand which I like better as it’s less greasy. Your skin may tingle or sting when you first use for a few seconds, they say this is because your deficient. I think it’s more likely because you have dry skin.

I don't think Mg will help with the RLS - the absolute urge to move. But, it can help with insomnia. Over and over again I have encountered a paradoxical reaction to Mg - making me excited rather than relaxing. I do take Magtein a supplement often called brain Mg. It's magnesium L-Threonate. For sleep, Magnesium Bisglycinate is often the best combining Mg with the Amino Acid Glycine.

I'm following the iron bisglycinate regimen and still experience some RLS. Would adding magnesium be useful?
