Combining medications/effects post surgery/meds not as effective

Hello, in the last month the Temgesic has not been as effective in controlling my RLS.

This could be due to one month ago undergoing surgery. I was told just before xmas that I had breast cancer.

On 3 Feb 2021 I had bilateral mastectomy surgery. My body was exposed to various GA medications plus after surgery I was given antibiotics and pain relief medication.

I noticed that the Temgesic sublingual 200mcg tablets X 2 that I used to control my RLS were no longer as effective.

I had read about the success that others on this site and other RLS sites were having using a low dose of Clonazepam . My doctor gave me a prescription yesterday.

I took a combination of Temgesic and Clonazepam last night. I had the best sleep I have had since surgery.

Does anyone else have any experience they can share on any of these matters. Kind regards Julie McGowan from Western Australia

I hope you’re doing ok after what I’m sure has been a difficult time.

I guess it’s likely that your iron status could have changed with the blood loss that is inevitable with your surgery?

I hope you are recovering well Julie.

Another aspect is if you were given extra opioid painkillers after the surgery, then you may now have some withdrawal effects.

Keep well

Yes I was given opioid painkillers for approx a week after surgery and from memory I did not take the Temgesic at the same time. But all a bit of a blur now.

Hi.I can empathise.I am recovering from breast cancer surgery too. I think it's probably due to the opioids you were given. I think it's unlikely to be withdrawal after such a short time. And I may be wrong .We are all different when it comes to drugs. It could be that you have developed a tolerance to the Temgesic .I get this with Tramadol.Periodically it stops working. Igo on a drug holiday from it fir a month. Then it works again. Wishing you good luck for your recovery.Sending love for your return to good health .x
