Over last 6 weeks I have been doing a little routine before bed as soon as my legs start to go with RLS, I lay on the and loor and do loads of stretching in of my legs it hurts but keep at it. I also got some pain gelk called Fenbid Forte 10%gel containing Ibuprofen, and rub in all the parts that normally hurt. It doesn't smell or stain the bed clothes. It's not a cure but helps my get to sleep!

Thanks for sharing. I also find stretches & leg squats help when the RLS kicks off. Doesn’t stop it completely but certainly reduces the sensations.

Have you tried the exercises I posted "Exercises when restless legs attack"? They stop my restless legs completely.

I do the exercises you describe and additional yoga stretches and it relieves an attack for about 5-10 mins. Then it starts again. I clearly need to switch from OxyContin to Buprenorphine.

I often have to do them twice before it works.

Believe me Sue- I do them constantly when the RLS kicks off- what else is there to do? We can’t stay still.

Sorry they didn't work for you. I guess as they say, somethings work for some people but not for others.

Hi Sue. I would be interested to try your exercises - they might be better than the ones I currently do. But can you tell me where I can find them? Thanks.

Sorry Sue I just found them, they're the same ones I already do, as they're on either the NHS advice website or RLS-UK. I agree they can be good. I also stand on the unaffected leg, hold on to something solid firmly with both hands, and swing the uncomfortable leg backwards and forwards as hard and as high as I can for a while.

I just bought Sweet Magnesium cream to rub on legs and soles of feet before bed. I also started on new magnesium capsules 500 mg. unless it’s a coincidence it has calmed RLS and helped me sleep.

The Restless Legs Foundation says there are no credible studies that support the use of magnesium to alleviate RLS symptoms

Oh. I thought I’d read somewhere on forum that Magnesium was helpful. More money down the drain !

If you find it helpful then carry on. We’re all very different and what works for one person may not work for another.

Some people find cutting out caffeine, alcohol & sugar helps their RLS- others that keto diet helps.

Keto sent my RLS crazy.

So if it works for you- keep taking it.

Hi,I've bought just about everything under the sun that friends suggest,I've so many tablets, potions and lotions I could set up a health shop😅,I too thought magnesium was supposed to help with rls and it probably does help some sufferers,I do believe diet does help but I have to say there's times I watch what I eat and still I'm walking the floor. I do read all the suggestions on this forum ,everyone is hoping for "THE CURE"

I have started Magnesium too after someone suggested it on this forum and whilst it has not done much in the first month it feels the RLS is milder now when it kicks in. S

Magnesium is so helpful for so many different reasons, I would suggest to keep taking the supplement, it’s not a waste of your money. I have felt that it had helped me at times with my RLS.

Thank you. I have been taking it for a week now and using the oil on my legs it does seem to have calmed it for bed quite a bit.
