Has anyone had experience with circulation boosters for rls? I have seen some reviews that seem to indicate so. I seem to have lost feeling in some of my toes which seem to indicate that my circulation is poor I take a daily beta blocker for SVT which may be responsible and I use a tens machine which helps I would be grateful for anyone using one to reply before I buy one.

Hi Hooc,

I bought the Revital medical circulation booster in the hope it would help my RLS. I also have MS and my feet are always purple - very common in MS as the blood doesn't seem to get to our feet.

The revital cost about £280, so not cheap. It definitely helped my circulation - my feet turned a nice pink colour BUT I soon realised it made my RLS worse. I think all the electrical twitching in my feet seemed to overstimulate my legs. I found I slept better on the days I didn't use it. I sold it on ebay about 6 months later for £275 so didn't lose out financially!

However, I remember some reviews which said it had helped RLS for some people. WAAD ( we are all different) as Involuntary Dancer so brilliantly puts it. You may be someone who will benefit from it.

Look out for special deals on the Revital- and remember there is a good resale market on ebay if it doesn't work for you.

Good luck

Raynaud's Disease - poor toe/foot circulation.

Regarding your toes and foot circulation. First, you must be evaluated for Diabetes. Really important! For me, after a lifetime of living in the tropics (age 67), I am now in a cold northern climate and have Raynaud's Disease. Lack of blood flow to my feet, resulting in discoloration, numb toes, dark toenails and blisters that won't heal. I take meds in winter and am ok in summer. Raynaud's is fairly common, also in hands and often not diagnosed or is ignored.

As a matter of interest, is there anything that can be done for Raynauds? My daughter has it - apparently it is common in people with red hair.

Yes, I am taking NIFEDIPINE 10mg early before breakfast. Sometimes I feel dizzy, but the change in my toes is immediate! I had really gross black toenails and worse. Cold feet always. I will taper down if the snow ever melts and stop the meds in summer! I would like to take 5mg, but it is not available in the US, where I am now. I saw a podiatrist, who seemed quite knowledgeable. Because your daughter MUST be evaluated for Diabetes, with all foot/toe problems, that MD can prescribe the Nifedipine. It does affect blood pressure. My crappy US insurance wanted me to take a higher dose, extended release. I declined and pushed for an insurance exception. If you live in a civilized country, you should have no worries. I did know about the Reynaud's frequency with redheads. Maybe related to their lack of melanin? I have dark hair and not-pale skin, but am from UK ancestry?

Thank you so much. I will pass the information on to her. I’m not sure hers is bad enough to justify medication but it’s good to know it’s an option.

Could you cut your pills on half to reduce dose - or dissolve them in a measure of water and take half? I have become expert at dividing up my pills to fine tune my dose. It’s important not to do it with slow release pills however.

The pills are gels, so cutting is not an option. I can get them in Canada in the 5mg dose.
