Limosilactobacillus Reuteri yoghurt

There has been a post on here recently regarding success some have had with Limosilactobacillus Reuteri yoghurt. Has anyone in the UK successfully made a yoghurt with this, and if so can you tell me which brand you used please. The main one mentioned comes from the US. The cost of the tablets is £36 which is OK, but the shipping is £50! There are several sold on Amazon, but they don't appear to be as strong as the US brand. I really would like to give this a try.

UPDATE: I have found that Luvele have a shop in the UK, and have ordered a starter from them. Reasonable price, and free shipping. 🙂

I did try making this 2 years ago. It didn't really work. They (Dr. Davis) apparently recommends a different brand of probiotic now.

L. Reuteri is listed on the kefir that I add to a smoothie. But, apparently this is not the correct strain, according to Dr. Davis. Some of the other companies offering L. Reuteri including the one linked in this article are apparently not legit (the producing company does not sell on Amazon).

Lastly, this article does list many of the manufacturers (scroll down to #9).

Thank you for this info. The first link was the one I tried to buy, but the cost to get them to the UK is prohibitively expensive. £50, which I believe equates to around $65. Unbelievably expensive, how can they justify that? I really appreciate you posting the info though. 🙂

Don't know how much iHerb charge for shipping. They do several different packs of L.reuteri including this 'new' 22 Billion CFU pack:

I know that Rosyrestless1 said she uses iHerb, but then she's in the US

There is no cost of the shipping if I order over 60$ from iHerb to Hungary

On forums where I read of this, people mentioned using Biogaia Gastrus(BG) tablets and crushing them. BG contains two different strains of L Reuteri.

I ordered Biogaia Protectis drops. They contain one strain of L Reuteri. I bought it to help with intestinal methanogenic overgrowth but found that even a half dose gave me insomnia.

My point is, you may want to start with a small dose of whatever probiotic you decide on, to see how you tolerate it.

Also, higher colony forming units (CFUs) aren't necessarily always a good thing when it comes to probiotics.

I make my Reuteri yogurt from Luvele and it works well. When you make your first batch from the powder - it may separate and or become cheesy but that is fine it still has lots of the bacteria. I simply sterilise all my glass jars and yogurt maker (I use a stainless steel thermos) and put some of the whey (if it has separated) into the warm milk. Usually the second batch will not separate. I made up to 8 batches from this as the powder is expensive. I find it works using 1/2 the powder they recommend.
