Split-King Bed Idea="Happy" Partner

Just thought I would share an idea that might keep your "significant other" from wanting to kick you out of bed every night due to the lovely RLS episodes that we all love so much. I'm in the U.S. and adjustable beds are becoming more popular where you can raise and lower your bed as needed for you and mine even has a setting called "zero gravity" that is nice for reading and watching TV.

Getting to the point, my wife and I bought one and we bought a "split king" which is essentially 2-twin XL mattresses that are pushed together so each of us can adjust our bed as needed. This is very nice for both of us but the added benefit here is that we are sleeping on 2 separate mattresses. When I am doing my "tossing and turning" with an RLS episode she is less disturbed on her side of the bed due to being on a different mattress. She wakes up refreshed and isn't telling me I need to go sleep in another room. I still feel like crap but at least one of us can function for the day.

"Cuddle time" is still available when appropriate but we both retreat to our own side of the bed for hopefully a long slumber for at least one of us. :)

Cuddle time? I'm sorry I am married and have no idea what such a thing as a cuddle is!

Yeah a bed like that could save a lot of hassle, I spend far too much time on the sofa :(

How thoughtful you are to get one of these beds. I can just picture your wife curled up in slumber on her side while you are practising for the Olympics on yours. The things we have to do. Cheers, Chrys.

We have 2 3/4 beds pushed together with a Super king size topper over it -makes a roomy bed and works for us -no way could we cope in a double with my RLS, hubbys cramp and my bipap machine! πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

It's a great idea but a lot of homes in UK are just not big enough for large furniture, mores the pity! Wish I had a bedroom big enough to fit a king-size bed into let alone an XL size!

If I put a standard UK king-size bed in my room we would have to remove bedroom door to enable us to get in and out of bed (think cabin bed in a caravan) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I have no option but to TRY and sleep on sofa in living room and leave hubby on his own in our comfy double bed, much to my annoyance.

I'm not bitter though just extremely jealous πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

We have had a zip and link pair of 3foot beds side by side for a few years now but I miss the king size we had.
